UAB Films ABlaze is a short film festival created by first-year students in the Honors College's course FilmFest 101, started in 2017.  The students curate, develop, and implement a festival that is free and open to the UAB community. Students learn from professional filmmakers as well as getting involved in the film community by volunteering at the Sidewalk Film Festival, applying that knowledge to their own production.  In addition to short films, the festival includes several informative and entertaining panels.
