The Controls and Autonomy Lab (CAL) at the University of Alabama always looks for motivated PhD students in the areas of control, autonomy, and aerial robotics. Specific research directions include, but are not limited to
Nonlinear, robust, and adaptive control theory
Certified learning-based control and decision making
Resilient autonomous systems
Control of hybrid aerial vehicles
Aerial robotics
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in ME, ECE, AE, CS, Applied Math, or a related discipline
Strong background in at least one area of control theory, machine/reinforcement learning, applied math, aerospace systems, and robotics.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills
Good programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or C++
Experience publishing papers in top journals and conferences
