Tyrone Strother is a Bronx-raised multidisciplinary contemporary artist, sculptor, author, and producer whose creative practice encompasses fine art, literature, music, design, and screen-based storytelling. Raised in Hunts Point in the Bronx, New York, Strother has developed a distinctive creative identity shaped by faith, imagination, cultural memory, transformation, originality, and legacy.

Working across hand-painted silk, sculpture, mixed-media objects, and collectible design, Strother approaches each medium as a vehicle for visual storytelling. His work explores the relationship between material transformation and personal meaning—turning silk, resin, color, texture, language, and symbolic objects into expressions of beauty, resilience, spirituality, and cultural experience.

Strother’s original silk works are primarily one-of-one compositions created on charmeuse silk, typically measuring 15 × 60 inches. Each piece is produced through a disciplined, labor-intensive process. The silk is stretched, the composition is drawn by hand, and gutta resist is applied to define and control the design. Dyes are then carefully painted into the fabric before the completed work is steam-set, permanently bonding the color to the silk. The piece is subsequently washed, finished, and often framed for presentation as a work of fine art.

Through this process, Strother transforms a delicate and fluid textile into a richly colored, enduring visual statement. His silk paintings are distinguished by their movement, luminous color, expressive linework, and narrative character. Each original is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity and supporting artist documentation.

His sculptural practice extends this commitment to experimentation and transformation. Strother works with mixed materials and a specialized resin-hardening process developed through his own artistic exploration. Selected sculptures incorporate cubic zirconia, moissanite, and, when appropriate to the individual work, genuine diamonds, emeralds, or rubies. These materials are not used merely as ornamentation; they contribute to the symbolism, presence, and collectible identity of each sculpture.

Across both silk and sculpture, Strother’s work is united by an emphasis on craftsmanship, texture, color, spiritual meaning, and narrative expression. Each piece is conceived as an original work with its own identity rather than as a decorative object or mass-produced design.

Strother’s artistic history includes documented participation in the Bronx Artist Documentary Project, an initiative created to preserve the stories, working environments, and creative practices of artists connected to the cultural life of the Bronx. Photographer Lauren Click documented Strother and his artistic process as part of the project. His evolving professional archive also contains photographs, publications, exhibition materials, and records connecting his work to Bronx cultural and community venues, including the Andrew Freedman Home. These materials are being assembled into a comprehensive artist dossier documenting his career, creative development, and provenance.

As an author, Strother has developed an expansive bibliography spanning horror, supernatural suspense, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, adventure, romance, faith-centered fiction, and culinary literature. His projects frequently begin with a central image, character, spiritual idea, or narrative question and develop into interconnected creative worlds.

For Strother, creativity is not driven primarily by money, nor is it restricted by conventional artistic categories. It is a calling and a continuous way of seeing, interpreting, and reshaping the world. An idea may become a silk painting, a sculpture, a novel, a musical composition, a design object, or a screen production.
