Typismm doesn't just share famous free and open-source typefaces. There are many typefaces that needs recognition, and Typismm will do its best for the best curated typefaces you can find. If a typeface is featured, you deserve it.
Of course, the typeface must be free. You're here for those typefaces. The license of the typeface must allows you to use it from a simple pubmat to a larger brand. But Typismm is not a lawyer, you need to read its license.
The purpose of a typeface being open-source is you can be a part of its development and you can modify it to make a whole new typeface. But I know, not all of you are type developers, just graphic designers and the like, so maybe it's not important for you.
There are some typefaces that are free but not open-source (it depends on their license).
Other free typefaces are just a demo or a freebie of a paid typeface, and most of them are just for personal use. Using it for commercial use can have a problem. But again, Typismm is not a lawyer, read its license.
You probably need a typeface for your own brand, or for your document. A simple Regular and Bold weights with Italics is accepted UNLESS it is a display typeface. Display typefaces also matter, and if it passes the three qualifications above, it's already okay.
Typefaces that will be featured must have one of this licenses:

Public Domain (technically not a license, but if the typeface is in Public Domain, it's completely free.)
Apache License
GNU General Public License + GNU Font Exception
GNU Lesser General Public License
Ubuntu Font License
Creative Commons licenses
Typismm will still add licenses here. There are licenses that allows you to use the typeface but it is not open-source. Again, Typismm is not a lawyer, but Typismm will still review them.
It is a challenge for Typismm to find typefaces outside Google Fonts. Although there are some known websites like Font Squirrel or FontsArena, my target to find typefaces is the website of its designers or type foundries, its minisite if the typeface have one, or its GitHub repository page. It gives Typismm a wider choices.
I also need to see the typeface in other websites. Reviewing the typeface, or using it in their brand. I also want to check in other websites that you can download them if their license is the same, or if the typeface is a demo of a paid one, or a pirated paid typeface. I want to avoid that. So to pass this step, the typeface must pass the four qualifications.
Of course, Typismm will use it. The typeface will be used in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Inkscape, and in the android app Phonto. It will give Typismm an experience on using it. The typeface probably have high line spacing, or very condensed, or without automatic kerning.
The main way in using it is to make a specimen out of it. I use PowerPoint making these typefaces.
When you saw the specimens, the designer that I will put in the specimens are the principal designer, and the type foundry if there has one.
With all information, Typismm will write its overview to be posted. It's random, but my format is to show its category, classification, designer/developer, and its license. Then give a description about the typeface, then go to my critique, then tell its styles, weights, optical sizes, and/or widths, and the link where you can download it.
After all of this, it will be immediately posted to Typismm's official Facebook Page.
