Ty Thompson is a native Uptown New Yorker with deep roots in southern and Tidewater Virginia. A product of the Christian church and consecutive generations of educators, education became his focus at an early age. Whether reciting scripture, writing essays, or consistent math and vocabulary drills that extended through the summer, academic achievement became second nature. Ty won his first essay contest at ten and never looked back. After a high school career that resulted in National Honor Society and Quill & Scroll induction as well as local journalist of the year award his senior year at HCHS, he received a full academic scholarship to Virginia Union University where he majored in Journalism. Ty graduated with honors. Eager to begin a career in hard news and politics, initial post graduate success proved to be difficult. Coupled with personal tragedy, Ty began on an almost decade long decline to demise before a significant wake up call and unlikely career opportunity changed his life for the better. It was during his transition to positivity that the process of writing his first book 100 Block Stories, a collection of interrelated, fictitious but realistic depiction of Spanish Harlem
