About me

Hi, my name is Tyler Stanfield and I am a meteorologist at NWS New Orleans. My primary research interest and specialization is in GIS, tropical meteorology, and climate variability.

Having an interest in weather through childhood and experiencing how weather impacts all aspects of daily life motivated me to pursue becoming a meteorologist. This early interest also built the foundation of my knowledge regarding tropical weather, forecasting, and the climate sciences that drive these phenomenon that continued to be developed throughout my higher education. I attended the University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology for my undergraduate degree with minors in both mathematics and GIS and then completed my masters in the Department of Geography at Virginia Tech in 2022.
