This is some architectural photography that I did in various places, ranging from the streets of Malta, to St Stephen's Basilica in Budapest. The intricacies that are carved into stone and wood add a noticable depth to these places, whether it be the Gothic spires of the Budapest Parliament Building, or the Maltese Baroque limestone designs of Valletta.
As well as this, more modern architectural devices are present in the cities of London and Edinburgh, with their more contemporary takes on buildings, especially in the New Town of Edinburgh. Such art is emboldened by the stark contrast given by the Georgian and Neoclassical relics of the 18th-century.
My most recent trip took me to the fortresses of Udaipur and Chittorgarh, highlighting the complex sculptures and carved sandstone that defined the old capital of Mewar
This is a showcase of some photos I have taken of various animals, insects and plants in the wild. There is an odd sort of unrefined validity in taking photos of animals in their natural habitats which allows one to appreciate their mannerisms all the more.
Many of these photos were taken in parks and nature reserves of Britain, but some are from places such as Norway and India, with their more region-adapted livestock and natives. This includes the long-haired mountain goats, as well as black and white langurs.
Macro photography is something that I really had to work towards, as I was not as skilled when I first began experimenting with it. Overcoming challenges with macro photography, however, was quite fun and engaging, as I had to pay close attention to the focal points of the image, as well as contrast and composition in the actual photo. I think this combination of variables that called for my attention played a big part in the improvement of my overall work. I started playing around a bit more, but took careful consideration before making any decisions for a photograph. Due to this, I think macro photography was an integral road on my path to improved and greater photography.
The use of light in photography is - in my opinion - the most important aspect of a photo. To see the effect for myself, I shot some long exposure photos, as well as some shorter exposure photos that prioritised light as the subject, more than any concrete object. Due to this, I saw firsthand the significance of lighting and exposure in a photo, allowing me to experiment more and broaden my horizons, with lower shutter speeds. This type of photography also allowed me to become much more familiar with my camera, as before I was following presets and advice from others, but as I tried to achieve the effect I wanted with my own devices, I gained much more experience and knowledge about my camera.
