Who is John Chang?
John Chang is the pseudonym of a man who claims to have mastered the art of Mo Pai, a form of neigong (internal alchemy) that allegedly enables him to manipulate chi and perform extraordinary feats such as healing, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and electrokinesis. He first came to public attention in 1988, when he was featured in a documentary called Ring of Fire: An Indonesian Odyssey, where he demonstrated his abilities to the filmmakers Lorne and Lawrence Blair.
Since then, John Chang has become a legend among martial arts enthusiasts and spiritual seekers, who have tried to locate him and learn from him. However, John Chang has always been very secretive and selective about his students, and has never revealed his real name or location. He has also stated that he does not want any publicity or fame, and that he only teaches Mo Pai to preserve the tradition and help those who are sincere and worthy.
What is Mo Pai?
Mo Pai is a branch of Moism, an ancient Chinese philosophy that was founded by Mozi in the 5th century BC. Moism emphasizes universal love, humanism, pragmatism, and opposition to war and violence. Mo Pai is the martial arts and spiritual practice of Moism, which aims to cultivate chi and achieve harmony with nature and the Tao.
According to John Chang, Mo Pai consists of 72 levels of training, each with its own challenges and rewards. The first 12 levels are considered basic, and involve breathing exercises, meditation, and physical conditioning. The next 12 levels are intermediate, and involve developing sensitivity to chi, opening the meridians, and balancing the yin and yang energies. The next 12 levels are advanced, and involve storing chi in the lower dantian (energy center), circulating chi throughout the body, and projecting chi externally. The next 12 levels are masterful, and involve refining chi into shen (spirit), opening the upper dantian (wisdom center), and accessing higher realms of consciousness. The final 24 levels are secret, and are only known to John Chang and a few other masters.
