Jay is a Holistic Life Coach who works intuitively and collaboratively with clients, drawing on a wide range of models including harm reduction, motivational interviewing, goal oriented counseling, and active listening, integrated within a social justice framework. Jay relies heavily on a combination of cultural competence and cultural humility as guideposts for best practices, with the firm intention of meeting clients where they are, and trusting their self knowledge, while gently challenging outdated or limiting understandings and beliefs. Jay brings a wealth of experience to his work, and follows the ethical guidelines set out by the International Coaching Federation.
Jay is particularly interested in supporting individuals in making major life decisions, and in working with clients in planning next steps to move forward in their lives.
Why Coaching?
Over the past decade, Jay has found that a majority of clients have benefited from a more direct, proactive, collaborative and goal oriented process than is standardly expected within a psycho-dynamic therapeutic frame. Therapy and holistic coaching both build on providers' respect for clients' knowledge of themselves, value self direction, and support positive change in peoples lives. Coaching excels at supporting individuals who are already doing well - in doing even better. Many people who are in therapy can benefit from a life coaching approach in conjunction with that work. Life Coaching's progress orientation can support clients in getting back in motion, and in clarifying first or next steps in moving forward in their lives. Life coaching can support you in making change easier, more proactive, and better organized. A Life Coach can help you find a bigger picture, and explore broader potentials than you might on your own.
