DARE

DARE is a straight-edge hardcore band from Fullerton, California that is currently signed to Revelation Records which put out the band's most recent release Against All Odds. The album features rerecorded versions of the two songs off of the band's Welcome to the OC EP. The EPs opening song Never Yours features a sample from the show The O.C. which takes place in Orange County, California which is rather close to Fullerton. Before Revelations Records picked up DARE they were signed to Reaper Records which released all the band's works prior to 2020. DARE supplies heavy guitar riffs coupled with some very dynamic drumming which helps keep the energy up. The lyrics employ themes of being anti drug and going against the grain which is a large part of straight-edge. I saw the band back in 2020 when they visited Chicago in which they played at the Chi Town Futbol League with hardcore bands Fiddlehead, Militaire Gun, Life's Question, and Si Dios Quiere. At the time I was just getting into hardcore music and DARE was one of my favorite bands so seeing them live was quite the treat.
