The world is deteriorating and the worst has yet to come. For years, glaciers in Antarctica and other frozen regions throughout the world have been melting due to the effects of global warming. As a result, scientist claim rising sea levels are responsible for the extreme weather patterns wreaking havoc on our planet's ecosystem in terms of extreme droughts and starvation due to the lack of fresh water and vegetation in various regions of the world. However, if we as a people unite, we can help save our planet from the disastrous effects of climate change.
The Alliance of Global Resources in Agriculture (AGRA) represents a vision, a humanitarian initiative aimed at building a coalition of countries dedicated to addressing climate change. Collaboration among the most powerful people in the world including the rich and poor need to join together in a concerted effort to combat global warming due to climate change.
AGRA’s mission is to create innovative strategies to reduce atmospheric pollution and extreme poverty caused by drought. We must promote sustainable agricultural development through out the world and ultimately enhance the quality of life on a global scale.
Climate change occurs when carbon emissions, primarily from fossil fuels, release toxic gases into our atmosphere damaging the ozone layer which reflect sun beams back into space but remain trapped by carbon particles which heats our planet. According to NASA, "The effects of human-caused global warming that is happening now, appear to be irreversible on the timescale of people alive today and will worsen in the decades to come" (NASA, 2022).
Some NASA scientists believe climate change cannot be reversed within our lifetime, recent data collected during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic's "shelter-in-place" policies implemented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggest otherwise. This data showed significant reductions in carbon emissions over a 12-month period. These findings suggest humanity has potential to repair our atmosphere by reducing carbon emissions so the planet can heal itself.
The images below prove that reducing the release of CO2 and other toxic pollutants into the planet's atmosphere would significantly slow the pace of global warming and generate cleaner air to breath (Herring, 2020).
The air quality images shown above demonstrate a significant reduction of carbon emissions that are released into our atmosphere dissipated during the covid-19 pandemic presenting a distinct contrast between clean air and green house gases generated by fossil fuel. These illustrations are based on actual photographs which confirms that defeating climate change is feasible within the next decade mainly by reducing pollutants into our atmosphere.
By applying green energy technology into our everyday lives such as electric vehicles, solar power, wind storage technology and biomass power generators our children will be able to thrive in a safe clean-air environment in the future.
Today, mankind has the technology, tools and resources to reverse the damage caused by air pollution and fossil fuel and achieve net zero carbon emissions sometime in the near future (see, Montreal Protocol) .

Imagined if domed greenhouses were built in the most desolate regions of the world and controlled by the local inhabitants who manage and maintain the structures for the success of their community. How beneficial would it be if a man-made paradise could become a reality built from the country's own natural resources. An excerpt from an article published by the United Nations says it best, “One of the best, most comprehensive solutions is land restoration, which addresses many of the underlying factors of degraded water cycles and the loss of soil fertility" (United Nations, 2022). If humanity could work together and combine their natural resources then it might be possible to defeat climate change and possible put an end to famine and poverty.
French architecture firm Coldefy has revealed its latest ambitious project: the largest single-domed greenhouse in the entire world. Spanning over 20,000 square meters (215,278 square feet) the gigantic energy self-sufficient structure, christened "Tropicalia," is set to be completed in 2024 in the Cote d'Opale, or Opal Coast, in France (Dola & Hills, 2021). Dome stadiums like the Tropicalia would provide drought-stricken regions with a life-changing environment by generating innovative technology in agriculture, terraforming and science which could solifidy the inhabitants culture for generations to come.
In 1991 Biosphere 2 was completed providing a blueprint for creating self-sustaining ecosystems that could potentially support life on another planet. Even though the first experiments failed due to extenuating circumstance the project exposed a methodology to terraform a desert like environment into a thriving ecosystem. If Biosphere 2 can potentially support life on another planet it can definitely support life here on Earth with much less complications.
Bubble of Harmony
"The roof is crafted from pressurized thermal pillows set into an aluminum frame -- they are similar to the cushions used in a grouping of domed greenhouses at the Eden Project in Cornwall, England. Inside, the dome will be heated to 82.4°F, a temperature that ensures "luxuriant vegetation," according to the press statement. The technology called Terraotherm will recycle the structure's thermal energy, with surplus heat siphoned to surrounding buildings" (Dola & Hills, 2021).
Transportation will be key in terms of transporting goods and material within the region and traveling from one place to another in a short period of time safely. For example, hyper trains use magnetic levitation (Super Maglev Technology) which can reach speeds up to 1,800 mph. Imagine traveling from the east coast of the U.S. to the west coast in 45 minutes. Even though building the tracks for hyper trains would be costly around $54 to 154 mil. per mile of track, it will be a small price to pay for the development of the region.
The challenge for this endeavor requires the building material for each structure to be strong, durable and able to withstand mother nature's wrath such as extreme drought, extreme heat and earthquakes. For instance, physical geography includes the physical features of the earth such as volcanoes and mountains including the planet’s natural elements like climate and atmosphere. Human geography includes the interaction with humans and the physical features and natural elements of the planet” (Study.com, 2023).
SMART FLOATING FARMS
"Water desalination would allow farming to take to the sea. The idea that sparked the imagination of a Spanish architecture firm, which mocked up an elaborate floating farm complex (illustration). The triple-decker structure would include solar panels on top, crops at midlevel and fish farming on the lower level".
Fresh water is essential to human survival and a natural resource that generates a reliable power source for industries, manufacturing, and food production. Drinkable water saves lives and provides essential nutrients to every ecosystem around the world. However, pollution to our ecosystem has contaminated hundreds of lakes, streams, and rivers of populated areas all over the world and threatens the survival of the region. According to Ros (2022), "overuse, triggered in part by population growth, causes water shortages and dries up lakes, rivers, or streams before they reach the sea or downstream neighbors, sometimes causing conflict". These are the types of issues that can be resolved if humanity can put their political differences aside and search for practical solutions to help eliminate poverty and starvation.

Oil pipelines are the primary conduits that transport oil and gas from coast to coast to fuel the world's quest for energy. Recently, The Global Energy Monitor reported that over 2,381 oil and gas pipelines are channeled across 162 countries totaling 730,000 miles enough to circle the world dozens of times (Hussein, 2021). So, if humanity has the technology to transport fossil fuels thousands of miles across vast distances, then transferring water to drought-stricken regions can also be accomplished if governments, industry, and manufacturing look past profits and greed to create a more self-sustainable future for our children. The cost of building oil and gas pipelines is substantial ranging from $2 to $655 billion depending on the cost per mile. But if world leaders can pour hundreds of billions of dollars into weapons of war, then surely they can sacrifice a few billion dollars to support sustainable life-saving technology that can service humankind indefinitely.
Sunlight and seawater will be critical to building the farms of the future.
Seawater desalination is based on converting seawater to consumable water for humans and irrigating crops. See the transformation from the link below of dry wasteland terraformed into a thriving ecosystem that can support humans and wildlife in the region.
World-wide Natural Resources
There are many unique features and natural resources common to each geological region of the planet including "physical features of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere, and the effect the region has on humans". Most of the earth's natural resources can be converted to support life in each region. If mankind could harness the natural resources in each region of the world cheap building material can be constructed to to build an ecosystem that is compatible to each location in terms of withstanding the harsh elements of the region.
Many countries around the world are rich in natural resources. For instance, the United States is rich in rare earth elements, uranium, petroleum and other natural resources. Russia is rich in natural resources with an estimated total amount of $75 trillion in oil, gold and other reserves. China’s estimated worth of natural resources is around $23 trillion including rare earth metals, natural gas and other minerals. Other countries with over $14 trillion worth of natural resources include "Canada, Iran, Brazil, Australia, Iraq and Venezuela" (Anthony, 2023). The natural resources common to each country could provide the vital resources in terms of utilizing the country's raw material to reduce cost as well as provide the manpower to build communities.

"Droughts affect people in several ways. Access to clean drinking water is critical for all life but it will dwindle during a severe drought. Without the presence of water, all living things will struggle to survive including our ecosystem" (Cousteau, 2022). To help prevents the destruction of our planet, state-of-the-art irrigation systems can be developed to channel life-changing water to those in need. Currently, irrigating vast landscapes is only possible when there is enough water in nearby rivers, lakes, streams, or groundwater, but during a drought, these water resources are diminished and some completely dry up preventing plant life from obtaining the nutrients necessary to survive (Cousteau, 2022).
While many congressional legislators in the U.S. believe global warming does not exist understanding the correlation between poverty and climate change can be viewed as a threat to humanity. According to a survey conducted by Pew Research Center 88% of democrats, including independents now consider climate change a major threat to the nation (Pew Research Center survey, 2020). Most congressional democrats in congress push for legislation to combat climate change compared to only a handful of republicans, but the majority of our lawmakers agree something needs to be done to combat global warming (Davenport & Lipton, 2017). Nevertheless, scientific scholars believe there is a direct link between poverty and global warming and changes need to be made before it is too late (McCarthy, 2020). The League of Conservation Voters comprised a list of congressional lawmakers who expressed their views on the floor of Congress.
"It is difficult to reconcile the Republican Party of 2008 with the party of 2017, whose leader, President Trump, has called global warming a hoax. (Davenport & Lipton, 2017).
A World Bank report titled ‘State of Water Supply, Sanitation and Poverty in Pakistan’, suggest Balochistan has the highest rural poverty rate in Pakistan, with more than 62 per cent of its rural population living below the poverty line (Ahmed, 2018).

Manufacturing will be a key component to the success of Agra City's infrastructure along with industry to establish an economy to benefit the inhabitants of the region. The natural resources native to each region and surrounding areas would be vital to the development of the region and essential for supporting life in the most remote regions of the world. For instance, there are dozens of uses for sand such as processing silicon to build frames for super greenhouses and housing, constructing building material based on 3D printers, building PVC pipes for irrigation and water transfer, making fiber glass as well as growing root crops in domed green houses.
