Day 1
15:05
[Alizia Kamani]
Duration: 90 minutes
Format of room: tables in clusters. We will split the group into smaller groups of 4-5.
Description: Science communication isn't just about writing clearly or speaking accessibly; it's about strategy. Who are you trying to reach? What do they need to hear? And where do you find them? This interactive and playful workshop will drop you into a real research challenge, asking you to do what many researchers never get formal training in: communicate it strategically. Through competitive wordplay, stakeholder profiling and message-crafting exercises, you will get the tools to create your message not just to "the public," but to the specific people whose understanding, support or action your research depends on. A little play and a lot of practice makes this session wholly practical.
Day 2
14:50
[Jovana Ostojić]
Duration: 75 minutes
Format of room: tables and chairs, working in pairs or individually
Description: Do you want your research to resonate beyond the academic bubble? This workshop builds directly on our first session, helping you create audience-centered content for your target audience on the right channel. Using GenAI, you will learn the elements of prompting, identify where AI invents or flattens nuance, and practice the most overlooked skill of all: critical editing. By the end, you'll have the skills to do this on your own and create content for your target audience. It's easier than you think!
What to bring: A fully charged laptop; login for ChatGPT (or another AI tool); published research that you wish to communicate to people outside academia and an open mind to try something new.
Day 3
14:50
[Alizia Kamani & Jovana Ostojić]
Duration: 60-90 minutes depending on availability
Format: drop-in consultation
Description: You have your research but now you must communicate and disseminate it beyond academia. This drop-in session is your chance to bring whatever is on your mind: a tricky stakeholder, a messy op-ed draft, a channel you're unsure about, or just "I have no idea where to start." Jovana and Alizia will be available as your sparring partners, one-on-one or in small group conversations. No slides. No structure. Just real answers to your real questions. Come with a question. Leave with a next step.
What to bring: A draft, idea, or problem you're currently wrestling with in your research communication and your laptop if you want to work on something live.
