Chris Merrick

Varsity Head Coach

Coach Merrick has over 24 years of coaching experience. Coach Merrick started coaching in the fall of 2001 with the Eagles Soccer Club in Upper Arlington.  Over the years Merrick has made stops in local clubs Ohio Premier, Crew SC, and Sporting Columbus. Also in 2001 he began his HS coaching career as a Junior Varsity Coach At Bishop Watterson HS. Coach Merrick’s first Head Varsity coaching position was at Upper Arlington HS in 2014. In 2015, He lead the Golden Bears Girls Soccer team to a District Championship I. Only his 2nd season. Coach Merrick has also coached at Reynoldsburg HS. 

Merrick is a Worthington Kilbourne graduate( Class of 96), and has always had a special place in his heart for the Worthington community

Brea Young 

JV Head Coach

Coach Bre is the new Head JV Girls Soccer Coach at Thomas Worthington High School, where her journey in the sport has come full circle. A proud Thomas Worthington alumna, Coach Bre played four years of high school soccer for the Cardinals and brings with her 18 years of playing experience, a deep passion for the game, and a strong connection to the program she now leads.

As a newer coach, Coach Bre brings fresh energy, a player-first mindset, and a coaching style rooted in her years as a dedicated athlete. Before taking on the JV head coaching role, she coached U12 players at Sporting Columbus, focusing on technical growth, teamwork, and instilling a love for the game in younger athletes.

She is committed to helping each player grow both on and off the field by fostering a positive, competitive, and supportive team environment. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, accountability, and team culture—with the ultimate goal of building confident, well-rounded athletes who love the game as much as she does.
