If you want a compact Bluetooth transmitter to wirelessly stream audio from gym machines or airplane seats to your premium wireless earbuds, choose Twelve South AirFly SE; if you need a bulk pack of durable, wired on-ear headphones for a classroom or group activity with children, choose Kanayu 30. These two products solve entirely different problems in the audio world, and comparing them side-by-side requires understanding that one is an adapter for existing gear while the other is a complete set of listening devices designed for volume and safety.
• Twelve South AirFly SE: Offers 20+ hours of battery life and seamless Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity for streaming to personal wireless earbuds; trade-off is it requires you to already own a pair of Bluetooth headphones to function.
• Kanayu 30: Delivers 30 individually packaged, impact-resistant wired headphones in vibrant colors with passive noise cancellation; trade-off is the lack of wireless freedom and reliance on a 3.5mm jack for every single listener.
• Who picks Twelve South: The traveler, the frequent flyer, or the tech-savvy user who wants to convert any old 3.5mm source into a modern Bluetooth experience.
• Who picks Kanayu: Teachers, event planners, or parents needing a reliable, cost-effective solution to equip a large group of kids with safe, colorful listening gear.
The Twelve South AirFly SE is not a headphone itself; it is a bridge. It is a small, white plastic device designed to sit between a legacy audio source—like the seatback screen on a plane, the console of a treadmill, or an older television—and your favorite pair of wireless earbuds. If you are tired of being tethered by wires during a workout or frustrated by the tangled cords of inflight entertainment systems, this adapter changes the game. It takes the analog signal from a standard 3.5mm aux jack and converts it into a digital Bluetooth stream, allowing you to listen without the physical restriction of a cable.
This product shines in scenarios where mobility and personal comfort are paramount. With a battery that lasts over 20 hours on a single charge, it is built to survive long-haul flights and back-to-back gym sessions without dying mid-workout. The inclusion of USB-C charging ensures you can keep it powered up easily, and the ability to use the device while it charges means you never have to stop listening even when your power bank is low. Its compact size, weighing just 13.61 grams, makes it nearly invisible in a pocket or bag, yet it packs enough punch to support high-quality stereo output via Bluetooth 5.2 and aptX codecs.
However, this device is strictly for individuals who already possess compatible wireless headphones. It will not work with hearing aids that rely on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or require a specific app to pair, so those users should verify compatibility before purchasing. It is also not designed for group settings. If you are looking for something to hand out to thirty students or twenty guests at a party, this is not the tool for the job. It is a personal accessory for anyone who values the clean aesthetic of wireless audio but finds themselves stuck with audio sources that only offer a headphone jack.

In stark contrast to the individual-focused AirFly SE, the Kanayu 30 is a bulk solution built for distribution. This is a set of thirty wired, on-ear headphones designed specifically for environments where many people need to listen simultaneously without the complexity of pairing multiple Bluetooth devices. The construction uses ABS plastic and rubber, materials chosen for their durability and impact resistance, making them suitable for repeated handling by children. They feature dynamic drivers with a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, ensuring clear sound across the spectrum, and they utilize passive noise cancellation to help listeners focus on the audio source.
The standout feature here is the variety and readiness. Each unit comes in one of six distinct colors—black, red, purple, grey, yellow, blue, orange, bright pink, sky blue, mint green, or rose red—which makes them visually appealing to kids and easy to sort by group or class. Because they are wired with a standard 3.5mm jack, there is no need to worry about batteries running out, pairing issues, or software updates. You simply plug them in, and they work immediately. The package includes thirty individually sealed units, which is ideal for hygiene and organization in schools or camps.
This product is perfect for situations where reliability trumps convenience. There is no battery to recharge, no Bluetooth connection to fail, and no risk of someone forgetting to turn their device on. The on-ear design provides a secure fit for younger ears, and the sturdy build suggests they can withstand the rougher handling typical of classroom environments. However, the lack of wireless capability means users are physically connected to the audio source. If you are trying to run on a treadmill or walk through an airport terminal, these wired headphones will be a hindrance rather than a help. They are stationary tools for stationary listening.
• Best for wireless freedom → Twelve South AirFly SE: If your primary goal is to eliminate cords while using equipment like gym treadmills or airplane screens, the AirFly SE allows you to keep your existing high-end wireless earbuds.
• Best for group events → Kanayu 30: If you need to outfit thirty people instantly without managing thirty separate Bluetooth connections, the Kanayu 30 pack is the only logical choice.
• Best for battery longevity → Twelve South AirFly SE: With a claimed 20+ hour battery life, the AirFly SE supports extended travel and long workouts better than any wired alternative that might suffer from cable fatigue.
• Best for durability in schools → Kanayu 30: The impact-resistant ABS and rubber construction is explicitly designed to survive drops and rough handling by children, a feature the delicate electronics of the AirFly SE does not prioritize.
• Best for setup speed → Kanayu 30: Plug and play is the reality here; no pairing modes, no lights flashing, just immediate audio once plugged in.
• Best for personal customization → Twelve South AirFly SE: You get to choose your own headphones, meaning you can select the best extra bass wireless headphones for workout or hi-res on-ear headphones for workout based on your personal taste.
• Best for color coding → Kanayu 30: The multicolor options allow for easy visual separation of groups, which is impossible with a single white adapter.
• Best for travel portability → Twelve South AirFly SE: At under 14 grams, it fits anywhere, whereas a box of thirty headphones is bulky and heavy to carry on a trip.
If I were standing in front of these two options with a specific goal in mind, the choice would depend entirely on my immediate context. For a solo traveler or fitness enthusiast who wants to upgrade their experience on a plane or at the gym, I would buy the Twelve South AirFly SE because it transforms outdated audio jacks into modern wireless experiences without sacrificing the quality of my preferred earbuds. It is the superior tool for personal utility and mobility. However, for a teacher preparing for a field trip or a parent organizing a movie night for a large group of kids, the Kanayu 30 is the only viable option. In my opinion, neither product competes directly; they serve different masters. But for the specific use case of for workout where I value silence, freedom, and battery life, the Twelve South AirFly SE is the clear winner. It turns any machine into a personal concert hall, which is exactly what I need to stay focused and motivated during my sessions.
Yes, the AirFly SE supports standard Bluetooth protocols and works with major brands like Sony, Bose, and Beats, provided your headphones can enter pairing mode and do not rely on proprietary apps.
The manufacturer designs these with impact-resistant ABS plastic and rubber to ensure safety and reliability for repeated use by kids in schools or travel settings.
No, the Kanayu 30 set is fully wired with a 3.5mm jack and does not contain internal batteries, so they require no charging and will work as long as the audio source is powered.
While it cannot change the source recording, the AirFly SE uses Bluetooth 5.2 and aptX technology to transmit the audio signal efficiently to your headphones, reducing interference compared to analog cables.
