If you want superior sound fidelity, a versatile dual-mode design that works with wired speakers, and a battery life that truly lasts through the longest flights, choose Twelve South AirFly Pro; if you need the latest Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, faster charging speeds, and a compact unit specifically tuned for zero-latency gaming on your PC, choose Protonix 6.0.
• Twelve South AirFly Pro: The standout strength is its robust 25+ hour battery life and dual TX/RX modes that let you use it with non-Bluetooth car stereos or home speakers; the trade-off is its slightly older Bluetooth 5.0 standard and larger physical footprint compared to newer competitors. This pick is for audiophiles and travelers who prioritize long playtime and audio codec support over the newest wireless protocols.
• Protonix 6.0: Its biggest advantage is the cutting-edge Bluetooth 6.0 chip offering enhanced range and stability, plus a rapid 1.5-hour charge time that beats most rivals; however, it lacks the receive mode functionality of the Twelve South and has a shorter maximum battery runtime of roughly 20 hours. This pick is for tech-forward users, gamers needing low latency, and anyone looking for a quick top-up between sessions.
The Twelve South AirFly Pro is built for people who treat their audio experience as a priority, not an afterthought. If you frequently fly, travel by train, or spend hours in hotel rooms watching TV, the sheer endurance of this device is its defining feature. With a battery capacity that supports over 25 hours of continuous playback, you can take it on multi-leg international trips without ever needing to plug it into a wall outlet during the journey. Even better, the design allows you to keep the device connected to a power source while it transmits audio, meaning you never have to worry about it dying mid-flight.
Beyond raw battery life, the AirFly Pro stands out because of its versatility. It isn't just a transmitter that sends sound from your TV to your headphones; it is also a receiver. You can flip the switch on the side to turn it into a bridge that takes audio from your phone via Bluetooth and plays it through a wired speaker system in your car or boat. This dual capability makes it a single gadget that solves problems in two very different environments. For those using older gym equipment or airplane entertainment systems that lack modern wireless standards, the ability to pair up to two sets of headphones simultaneously ensures you can share your music with a partner without any hassle.

However, this level of flexibility comes with a few caveats. The device relies on Bluetooth 5.0 technology. While aptX Low Latency and aptX codecs are present to ensure high-quality transmission, the connection stability and range are not as advanced as what we see in the newest generation of chips. Additionally, the physical dimensions are slightly bulkier than some pocket-sized alternatives, measuring nearly 1.75 inches in length. If you are strictly looking for the smallest possible dongle to slip into a keychain, this might feel a bit substantial, though the included travel pouch helps mitigate that concern. Ultimately, this product is for the user who values reliability, codec quality, and the ability to adapt to any audio jack—whether it's a 3.5mm port on a plane seat or a legacy stereo system—over having the absolute latest wireless specification.
The Protonix 6.0 targets a different kind of user: the one who needs speed and precision above all else. If your primary setup involves a PC where you are gaming, editing video, or watching content where lip-sync matters, the Bluetooth 6.0 architecture here is a game-changer. This version of the protocol offers enhanced range and more stable wireless connectivity than previous iterations, reducing the likelihood of dropouts in crowded signal environments. More importantly, the manufacturer emphasizes low-latency performance, ensuring that sound and picture remain perfectly synchronized. For gamers using voice assistant headband headphones for pc or anyone sensitive to audio delay, this specific tuning eliminates the annoying lag that plagues older adapters.
Another major draw for this device is the charging infrastructure. In a world where we often forget to charge our gadgets until they are dead, the Protonix 6.0 shines with its fast-charging capability. A full charge takes only 1.5 hours, which is significantly quicker than many competitors. This speed, combined with the ability to use the device while it is plugged in, means you can get a significant boost in power during a short coffee break or while waiting for a flight to board. The battery life of 20+ hours is still excellent for daily commuting and long road trips, but the focus here is clearly on getting back to full operation quickly rather than squeezing out every extra minute of passive usage.
This adapter is also designed for simplicity and broad compatibility. It plugs directly into the 3.5mm AUX port and requires no drivers or apps, making it accessible for users of all ages. It pairs automatically with previously connected devices, so you don't have to fiddle with settings every time you power it on. However, there are limitations to consider. Unlike the Twelve South option, this model does not support receiving audio from a phone to play through a wired speaker; it is strictly a transmitter. Furthermore, while the build is compact and lightweight, the material is ABS plastic, which feels functional but perhaps less premium than other enclosures. If you are looking for the best comfortable in ear earbuds for pc setups where latency is critical, or simply want the fastest charging solution available, this is the logical choice.

I would buy the Twelve South AirFly Pro if I were planning a long-haul trip or needed a reliable companion for my home theater and car stereo. The extended battery life and the unique ability to act as a receiver make it a more complete tool for a variety of scenarios. However, if my primary goal was setting up a dedicated for pc gaming station where every millisecond of audio delay counts, I would switch to the Protonix 6.0. The Bluetooth 6.0 technology and rapid charging cycle offer a modern edge that fits a high-performance desktop environment perfectly. In my opinion, the Twelve South wins on versatility, but the Protonix wins on raw speed and modern connectivity.
For gaming, the Protonix 6.0 is the stronger candidate due to its Bluetooth 6.0 implementation and specific low-latency features that minimize audio delay, ensuring your game sounds match the action on screen.
Yes, but only the Twelve South AirFly Pro has a "Receive" mode that allows you to send Bluetooth audio from your phone to a wired car stereo input, whereas the Protonix 6.0 functions primarily as a transmitter.
The Twelve South AirFly Pro offers a longer runtime of over 25 hours, while the Protonix 6.0 provides approximately 20+ hours of continuous use before requiring a recharge.
No, both devices are designed for plug-and-play use. They connect automatically to previously paired headphones without requiring any software installation or driver updates.
