The dataset used in this project was made by Ruchi Bhatia. This dataset contains information of 5368 different tv shows all across the streaming platforms Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+. Each row contains information on one tv show with information on the year the show was made, the ratings the show received from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, and which streaming platform the tv show can found. This dataset interested me because I have subscriptions for all of these platforms and I typically have a hard time figuring out which platform to use depending on the quality of shows, and more importantly which platform should I keep since the monthly subscription totally adds up quickly.
In this dataset the columns Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video, and Type are qualitative and nominal; while the columns Unnamed: 0, ID, Year, IMDb, Age, and Rotten Tomatoes are quantitative, with the columns Age, Year, Rotten Tomatoes, and IMDb being discrete, and Unnamed: 0 and ID being continuous. The dataset has a fine level of granularity since each row represents a singular show with the information on what streaming service it is in, the age category, the ratings it has on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, and the title of the show. The data covered in the dataset gives a complete scope of our question because of the fact that each show is represents where it is located and whether the show is good or not based on the IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes ratings. This dataset was created in 2021 and represents shows from the 1940's to 2020, so this data provides a recent outlook on the tv shows in these streaming sites. The dataset if faithful for the most part with the exception of the Age and IMDb columns having missing data points, which could mean that the information of these categories can be somewhat skewed compared to other categories.
