Our History
Since 1964, Tutu Church of God Academy has been committed to providing Christ-centered education in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Founded by missionaries from Kansas City, Kansas, under the direction of the Foreign Mission Board in Overland Park, Kansas, the school began as an elementary institution serving the local community. In 1981, when the missionaries returned to the United States, plans were made to ensure that the school would remain open and continue its mission.
Through the support of the Foreign Mission Board, the local pastor was trained in Accelerated Christian Education (ACE), allowing the school to move forward with a strong, individualized Christian academic program. Since 1982, the school has operated as an academy, and in 1988 it proudly celebrated its first high school graduating class.
Over the years, Tutu Church of God Academy has helped shape the lives of many students, with graduates continuing on to colleges and universities across the United States. Today, we serve students in grades K–12 through a program designed to meet individual learning needs while fostering academic growth, spiritual development, and Christian values.
We are proud of our history and excited about the future as we continue to educate, inspire, and prepare the next generation.
