Tutti frutti (from Italian tutti i frutti, "all fruits"; also hyphenated tutti-frutti) is a colorful confectionery containing various chopped and usually candied fruits, or an artificial or natural flavouring simulating the combined flavour of many different fruits and vanilla. Recipes for tutti frutti ice cream were found in cookbooks of the late 19th century. A tutti frutti ice cream recipe was included in the 1874 cookbook Common Sense in the Household: A Manual of Practical Housewifery[9] This recipe calls for actual tutti frutti and is not fancifully named. In the 1883 cookbook The Chicago Herald Cooking School there is also a tutti frutti ice cream recipe.[10]

At least one early-20th-century American cookbook contains a suggestion that tutti frutti ice cream was popular in the United States. The Italian Cookbook[13] contains a recipe for Tutti Frutti Ice and says, "This is not the tutti frutti ice cream as is known in America".

It uses an & for textures that are powers of two, but avoids using a modulo for textures that aren't, since doing that divide would probably have been slower.
