Hi! I'm Dr. Colby Nielsen, an orthopedic surgery resident at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. I’ve spent over a decade studying and applying the sciences—from earning my degree in Biology at BYU to completing medical school and now treating patients in surgery.
In my journey I have had to learn to succeed in many strenuous work and educational endeavors. I graduated with top marks from high school, college and medical school, then matched into a competitive surgical residency. I scored in the 99th percentile on the ACT, 98th percentile on the MCAT (medical school entrance exam), and 95th percentile on my medical board exams. Along with a wealth of knowledge gained, my path has equipped me with efficient study habits and the ability to grasp challenging topics, enabling me to share what I've learned with my students.
I’ve worked as a teaching assistant and tutor for years for high school students, undergrads and medical students, and I love helping students truly understand how science works—not just memorize it. Whether you're trying to ace your next test, boost your GPA, or prepare for a future in healthcare, I can help you get there.
I believe the best tutoring experiences are personalized and tailored to the needs of the student. All sessions are 1-on-1 and are designed based on student request. I am not here to help students complete their homework. My goal is to enable students to comprehend and apply principles so that they may succeed in individual courses and as a whole academically.
