TEEEN® (Teens, Empowerment, Exercise, Education, Nutrition) program is an innovative nutrition and exercise behavioral program for children ages 8-20 years who are overweight (a BMI greater than 85% but less than 95%) or obese (a BMI greater than 95%) that incorporates social cognitive and modeling theory, play-based learning, motivational interviewing, as well as educational and empowerment tools for adolescents in a non-clinical environment. Participants will be provided information, education and empowerment tools to encourage healthy choices.
The program and Dr. Gonzalez have received several awards for this innovative approach to pediatric obesity including the Boston Business Journal Champion in Health Care Award, The El Planeta Award, and the Community Service Learning Faculty Award.
