The Phoenix Project is dedicated to helping incarcerated persons acquire the tools they need to live healthier lives and to successfully reintegrate back into society. We run weekly discussion-based health workshops as part of the pre-release program at the South Bay House of Corrections. The workshops cover a wide range of social and health topics, ranging from substance abuse to chronic diseases to how to sign up for health insurance. We intermittently deliver these workshops to inmates in the higher security units. Outside of workshops, we also run speaker events and documentary screenings to help spread awareness of social issues in jail and prison settings.Â
