農人折腰的兩種是非洲型稻與亞洲型稻,世界上主要稻作產區種的都是亞洲型稻,又分為三個亞種:印度型稻(喜歡熱帶)、日本型稻(喜歡溫帶)、爪哇型稻(喜歡熱帶又不耐寒)。

台灣因為地理位置和氣候條件很適合稻米,所以這三個亞種都有栽培(很帥吧!)
