Hard and soft plastics have become a staple in our daily lives, from water bottles to plastic bags. Seek alternatives if available. 

• Re-usable water bottles and shopping bags.

• Use reusable plastic containers instead of plastic bags.

• Make a habit of picking up one piece of trash on the way back to your car, or on the way to your destination!

• Support local beach cleanups.

• Destroy sand castles or fill up holes at the beach before you go home - these can act as obstacles for nesting sea turtles. 

• If you live near the beach turn your lights off, this disorients hatching sea turtles and discourages nesting females from laying their eggs. 

• Don't release a balloon! It will likely end up in the ocean.
