Special Election 4/21
Early Voting Friday 3/7-Saturday 4/18
Voting YES on this amendment is about restoring fairness and leveling the playing field. This redistricting amendment is a temporary measure that will leave Virginia’s bipartisan Redistricting Commission in charge when lines are scheduled to be redrawn in 2031.
We recommend that you VOTE EARLY. Voting early allows for those tracking turnout to see where to focus their efforts to get people who haven’t voted yet to the polls. It also reduces risk of potential election interference by allowing you time to resolve any issue with your registration or voting location before Election Day.
Go to your locality to find out where and when to vote → Fairfax County ॱ Fairfax City ॱ Falls Church City ॱ Town of Vienna ॱ Prince WIlliam County ॱ Loudoun County
Voting Deadlines:
Apply for ballot to be mailed to you: through 4/10/2026
Ballot Question:
Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?
Will this impact who represents me in Congress?
Check if your Congressional District will change if this measure passes here: vpap.org/redistricting/2026.
What can YOU do to support this effort?

Our awesome postcarders are knocking it out of the park!
We recently added postcards to support the April 21 Redistricting Special Election and are busy getting those postcards out to remind voters to get to the polls EARLY for this critical election!
We are at 55% of our 15000 postcard goal for 2026 and we haven't even gotten into the mid-terms yet!
BIG THANKS to all our awesome postcarders for working (and mailing) these postcards!
We have created a ‘Zine’ (mini-magazine) that explains the three main elections this year, what is in each election, and explains all four of the Virginia Constitutional Amendments that will be on the ballot this year.
Although the Zine prints on a full sheet of paper, it folds easily into a small handout that you can give to everyone you know (and even those you don’t)!
Help us get the word out by downloading and folding as many of the Zines as you can, and handing them out!
The Zine is available in English and Spanish on our website. You can download your copies from our website today!

We are 8 months away from the General Election in November, but the primaries that will decide who is on the ballot in every state are starting now!
March has 5 primary elections in Arkansas, North Carolina, Texas, Mississippi and Illinois.
Primaries are important! Not only is it your chance to select the candidate you want to see on the ballot in November, but it is also a good check on how our elections may be interfered with. In Texas, changes in where people could vote for the Democratic primary on Election Day caused confusion which led to some voters not being able to cast their ballots on time. Voting early would have avoided this particular issue.
The Virginia primary is now on August 4.

The Immigration group is actively researching immigration issues and local legislation to determine where our advocacy can have the biggest impact.
At our February 25th meeting, members shared their current focus areas:
Ann is tracking Virginia immigration legislation for advocacy opportunities.
Brian briefed us on the Centreville Immigration Forum and the National Day Labor Organizing Network.
We explored teaming up with the League of Women Voters to amplify our research.
Deborah joined us from Virginia Beach to learn how to launch a similar group in her area.
Whether you are ready to dig into policy or just want to listen and learn, we invite you to join our Immigration Working Group.
Our Just the Facts/Civics 101 work is about making democracy easier to understand—and easier to participate in.
Through short explainers, workshops, tabling events, and community conversations, we break down how our government actually works, what the Constitution says (and doesn’t say), and how people can engage beyond voting.
We focus on plain-language facts, curiosity over confrontation, and respectful discussion. No parties. No talking points. Just clear, accessible civic education that empowers people to ask better questions, spot misinformation, and participate confidently in our democracy.
Recap!
On Feb. 17, we hosted 'Civics 101: Understanding Democracy & Civic Power'. We discussed Civic Engagement, the Constitution, Elections (including the risk to your right to vote) and Civic Power in Daily Life.
On Feb. 28, we hosted 'Misinformation, Disinformation, and AI 101: Strategies and Tools'. We covered what these terms mean, and how to spot AI generated material, especially in social media.
Definition slide from 'Misinformation, Disinformation, and AI 101' session 2/28.
We will be looking to hold more sessions like these in the future - keep an eye on our event calendar for updates.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger offered a sharp contrast to President Donald Trump’s depiction of the nation as being in a “golden age” during his State of the Union, arguing in her Democratic rebuttal that costs remain high for many Americans more than a year into his second term.
Her message, that families are still struggling under Trump’s policies, is one Democrats plan to carry nationwide ahead of the midterm elections. Party leaders point to Spanberger’s double-digit victory in Virginia last November as validation of a disciplined, cost-focused campaign they now hope to replicate across the country.

The First Amendment!
Fewer than 10% of Americans can correctly name the five freedoms protected by the First Amendment: religion, speech, the press, assembly and petition.
And most people don’t know the fact that the First Amendment protects these rights only from infringement by the government, not from private people or companies.
The Freedom Forum has 20 facts about the First Amendment that you should know!
