Accessibility
PLUMA is designed with accessibility as a core principle, not an afterthought. Each issue is being remediated to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards to the fullest extent possible within Google Slides.
Every PLUMA Cuaderno with a ✓ on the cover includes:
Verified reading order for screen reader compatibility
Descriptive alt text on all images
Descriptive hyperlink text for all videos and external resources
Screen reader accessible video links accompany all embedded content
Color contrast ratios have been verified against WCAG AA standards throughout
Unique and descriptive slide titles on every slide
No tables, no decorative lines, and no animations
Navigation links from the table of contents to every page in each issue or cuaderno
Response prompts that clearly identify where students enter their work
Print-friendly color choices for students who print their materials
Known Platform Limitations
Google Slides does not support inline language tagging for bilingual content. PLUMA is a bilingual Spanish and English program. Screen reader users should ensure their assistive technology supports both languages for the best experience.
All third-party video content is hosted on YouTube. Captions have been verified as available on all linked videos. The accuracy of the auto-generated captions on third-party content is beyond the author's control.
PLUMA was designed in alignment with the ADA Title II accessibility deadline of April 2027 and will be updated as Google Slides accessibility features evolve.
