Tung D. Phan was born and grew up in a small rice-farming village in central Vietnam. He received the BE in Electronics and Telecommunications from Vinh University, Vietnam in 2011, MS in Radio Engineering from Tula State University, Russia in 2015, and PhD degree in RF/antenna from Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Korea in 2021. From 2015 to 2018, he was with the School of Engineering and Technology, Vinh University as a Lecturer. Since Sep. 2021, he moved to Finland and has been working as a postdoc research fellow at the Centre of Wireless Communications, University of Oulu, Finland. 

His primary research interest includes transparent antennas, reconfigurable metasurfaces, metamaterial-based absorbers, and electromagnetic shielding. Dr. Phan is the author/co-author of over 20 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications. He has been awarded the Best Paper Award at The IEIE Autumn Annual Conference in 2019, the Vietnamese Young Scientists in Korea Award and Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in 2021, and the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Fellowship (APSF) in 2022. He is a member of IEEE and has served as a reviewer for prestigious journals in the Electrical and Electronics field.
