Ever since Shauku learned to walk, he was an energetic ball of fire that was way too excited to explore. He’s lucky his parents kept a good eye on him, or else he just may have been someone’s food. Shauku's wild spirit is what inspired his name, meaning 'enthusiasm'. His parents were Outlanders that traveled alone in a pack of four. His father, Kululen, his mother, Yiiwu, and another young cub that they found abandoned on the savannah.
For 3 years he wandered the savannah in the Outlands with their tight-knit group. He had hunting lessons from both his mom and his dad, making light competition with his adopted sibling. So far he's shown prowess in hunting, but gets too cocky and slips up by scaring away the prey or ruining his stamina in the chase. He caused his family to settle for foraging scraps for a meal more than once – which he's not proud of.
The wet season soaked the lands causing excessive water to frequent the Outlands. The quartet of hyenas found themselves in the way of a flash flood. The rush of water separated all that Shauku knew while he struggled to keep above the water. He was lucky to float atop some wooden debris until he spotted the chance to make it out of the floods path. He called for his parents and his sibling, hearing no reply amidst the dead of night.
He waited for a sign that he would be reunited with his family again, but grew tired, restless and hungry. He began wandering aimlessly across the Outlands, only surviving off of small-game and nearly-cleaned carcasses he came across.
That's how he found himself in Magi Giza territory. He didn't know why he roamed into the marsh. It was unlikely he would find what he was looking for there. He was weak and desperate. Some Ravager scouts from the Magi Giza clan found him, to which he quickly explained himself and that he didn't mean any harm. After hearing about his long travels and indirectly his unwavering will to keep living, the Ravagers took him in and offered him a home within the clan. He had the heart of a survivor — much like the rest of the Magi Giza hyenas.
So this is where Shauku's story really begins. He's in a new clan with no familiar faces. He wonders if he will ever see his dear family again, and now must prove himself to fit in with these intimidating hyenas. Not to mention get used to their... unique eating habits.
His favourite food is ostrich eggs, but he rarely has an accomplice to help steal some.
His father's name, Kululen, means Roar of fire in Kalenjin.
His mother's name, Yiiwu, means to bloom or to flower in Kalenjin.

His father is the only parent that could keep up with Shauku's rambunctious energy. It was largely his father that taught him to hunt, and how to survive. He spent more time with him. Shauku thought very highly of him, and hearing his stories had him on the edge of his (figurative) seat.

As much as Shauku took to his father more, his mother was always there for him when he had concerns, or there to lick his wounds if he got hurt. Shauku also found himself snuggled against his mother during the day while they slept. There were many dawns where he and his mother would stay up early, talking about deeper things in life.

This role can either be made up by me as an NPC or possibly worked into another member's character backstory. So it is left vague on purpose. The main points of the connection is that Shauku and this hyena are very close, but not blood related 'siblings'. They used to be there for each other through thick and thin — were inseparable until they were lost in a flood.
