Privacy Policy
Effective September 1, 2026 | United States
Privacy at a glance. Your music library and listening history are primarily kept on your device. Tunara has no user accounts, advertising, or cross-app tracking. Information leaves the device only for features you choose to use, as explained below.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Tunara iPhone application handles information. Tunara is operated by Kadeem Palacios ("Tunara," "I," or "me"). This version of Tunara is offered in the United States.
No account is required to use Tunara.
Music files, library metadata, playlists, preferences, and listening history are stored locally on your device.
Optional usage analytics are disabled by default and are sent only after you choose to enable them.
Song-detail searches send an audio fingerprint to Apple's Shazam service, not your original audio file.
Purchases are handled by Apple. Tunara does not receive your payment-card details.
Tunara does not sell personal information, display advertising, or share information for targeted advertising.
Tunara creates a local music library from audio files you add. Depending on how you use the app, the local library may contain audio files; file names and locations; song title, artist, album, genre, artwork, duration, and audio fingerprints; ratings; trim points; volume adjustments; BPM; playlist membership and artwork; play counts; dates and duration of listening; playback context; metadata-change history; addition and deletion history; app preferences; and an installation-specific identifier and first-launch information used for local app operation.
Tunara does not require an account and does not operate a cloud library or synchronization service. Local information remains under the control of the device and the choices described in Section 7.
When you choose Find Song Details or start a batch recognition scan, Tunara reads a limited portion of the selected audio on your device and generates a Shazam audio signature. Tunara sends that signature to Apple's Shazam service to look for a match. Tunara does not send the original audio file or raw audio recording to Shazam.
A match may return a title, artist, genres, artwork address, and Apple Music catalog identifier. If you authorize Apple Music access, Tunara may use that catalog identifier through MusicKit to request album information, structured artist credits, genres, and artwork. Apple manages the authorization and any Apple Account relationship; Tunara does not receive your Apple Account password or payment information.
Tunara uses TelemetryDeck for optional product analytics. Analytics are off by default. On the third distinct day you open the app, Tunara may invite you to enable them. Nothing is sent through this analytics feature unless you affirmatively enable it, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
When enabled, analytics may include an anonymized identifier that is constant for that app installation; an app action or feature event; a timestamp rounded to the hour; app version and build; iOS version; device type; App Store or TestFlight status; session and locale information; and coarse event details such as whether an import succeeded or a count range.
Tunara's analytics events do not include song titles, artist names, album names, playlist names, file names or paths, audio, artwork, search terms, exact listening history, transaction identifiers, localized prices, or storefront information. TelemetryDeck states that it does not store IP addresses for app analytics.
Turning analytics off stops future analytics from Tunara and removes analytics events still queued on the device. Because previously transmitted analytics are designed not to identify you, Tunara generally cannot locate or delete a particular person's past analytics events. TelemetryDeck currently states that it has no scheduled deletion date for cold-storage events, expects to delete them after approximately seven to ten years, and does not guarantee that period.
When you choose Send Feedback, Tunara prepares an email for you to review and send. The message may contain the feedback you enter, the selected feedback category, reproduction details, an optional screenshot, the Tunara version and build, the iOS version, the hardware model identifier, and a random report ID. If you attach a screenshot through the in-app picker, Tunara removes the original image metadata before attaching it, but the visible image may still contain song or library details.
Feedback is sent only after you choose to send it through an email service. The sending address and message content are processed by your email provider and received in Tunara's Proton Mail inbox. Only Kadeem Palacios is intended to access that inbox.
Tunara Premium is a non-consumable in-app purchase handled through Apple's StoreKit and the App Store. Tunara receives product availability and verified entitlement status needed to unlock Premium features. Apple processes the transaction and payment information; Tunara does not receive your full payment-card details.
Tunara accesses only audio files or images you deliberately select through Apple's file and photo pickers. Selected audio files may be copied into Tunara's local library. Selected images may be normalized and stored locally as song or playlist artwork. Tunara does not request broad access to your photo library.
Tunara reads artwork from the clipboard only after you choose a paste action. If the clipboard contains an image URL, Tunara may request that URL from its host to download the image. The host may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address under its own privacy practices.
To import, organize, edit, play, trim, rate, and manage your local music library.
To maintain playlists, playback statistics, metadata history, and locally recoverable song information.
To identify recordings and propose missing song information when you request recognition.
To verify and restore Tunara Premium access through Apple.
To understand general feature use and improve Tunara when you enable analytics.
To respond to feedback, investigate reports, and provide support when you contact Tunara.
To protect the app, comply with law, and enforce applicable terms when necessary.
Tunara shares information only as needed for the user-initiated and optional services described in this policy. The relevant providers are Apple, including Shazam, Apple Music, MusicKit, StoreKit, and the App Store; TelemetryDeck for optional analytics; Proton Mail for receiving feedback; your chosen email provider; and a remote image host if you choose to paste artwork from a URL.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Tunara uses providers only for the purposes described here and requires information shared with service providers to receive protections consistent with this policy and applicable law. Tunara may also disclose limited information when legally required by a valid request or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of the app.
Local library information remains on the device while Tunara is installed, unless you delete particular content. A song deleted in Tunara normally enters Recently Deleted for a 30-minute recovery period. If the period expires, or you choose permanent deletion sooner, Tunara deletes the audio file.
Permanent deletion of the audio file does not erase every related local record. Tunara keeps archived song metadata and artwork, ratings, trim and volume settings, BPM, audio fingerprints, play counts, listening events, and addition, deletion, and metadata-change history indefinitely on the device. This supports local history and can restore prior information if the same recording is imported again. Tunara does not currently provide a separate Release-build control to erase all of that retained history. Deleting Tunara removes the app's local container from the device.
Feedback emails and attachments may be retained indefinitely until Kadeem Palacios manually deletes them. You may request access to or deletion of feedback you sent. A request can be fulfilled only if the message can still be identified and located, such as by the sending email address or report ID. Tunara does not guarantee that a particular message will remain available forever.
Analytics still queued on the device are removed when you disable analytics. Analytics already received by TelemetryDeck follow TelemetryDeck's retention practices described in Section 3.
Analytics: Leave analytics off, decline the invitation, or disable Share Usage Analytics in Tunara's Settings at any time.
Apple Music: Allow or deny Apple Music access and change that permission through iOS Settings.
Files and photos: Choose which files and images to provide through Apple's pickers.
Local content: Delete songs through Tunara and remove the app if you want to erase its remaining local container.
Feedback: Email the privacy contact below to request access to or deletion of identifiable feedback still retained.
Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights concerning personal information. Tunara will consider and respond to a verifiable request as required by applicable law. Because Tunara has no user accounts and most information remains only on your device, Tunara may not possess or be able to identify the information covered by a request.
Tunara is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not contain explicit material, but it is designed as a general-audience personal music-library tool. If you believe a child under 13 has sent personal information through feedback, contact Tunara so the message can be reviewed and, when identifiable, deleted.
Tunara limits collection, keeps the music library primarily on the device, uses Apple's system frameworks for permissions and purchases, removes original metadata from feedback screenshots, and restricts analytics payloads to approved categories. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Tunara does not sell personal information, share information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising, display third-party advertising, or track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
This policy may be updated when Tunara's features, providers, or legal obligations change. A revised policy will show a new effective date and will be made available through Tunara and its public privacy-policy page. Material changes will be communicated in a manner appropriate to the change.
