As a playwright Malcolm won the Banjo Patterson One Act Play Competition & The Australian Performing Group’s Playwrights Competition which resulted in the production of his play Thank God It’s Not Xmas by The Australian Performing Group in Melbourne, which he directed. His screenplay One Small Step is currently being developed by director Jody Dwyer (Dying Breed).
His plays have been performed in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Malcolm has directed productions at Belvoir St Theatre, stables Theatre, King St Theatre, Darlinghurst Theatre, Universal Theatre (Melbourne), Her Majesty’s Theatre & Festival Centre (Adelaide).
