Our team of 15 diverse students traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma through the University of Iowa's Alternative Spring Break program. We went there to explore the theme of food justice such as: having affordable and accessible nutritional food for everyone. During the six days we were there we did service learning projects at three different organization: The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Iron Gate, and Kids Against Hunger. During our free time we got to explore the Tulsa community by visiting the Philbrook Museum of Art, Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, the Center of the Universe, and the Blue Dome District. This entire experience was a whirlwind of laughter, volunteer work, and reflection. We made memories that are unforgettable and friendship that will stand the test of time.
