What is Respondus LockDown Browser?
Respondus LockDown Browser is an Internet browser that prevents users from opening other software on their computer, allowing students to simulate a testing environment at home. Your teacher may require Respondus LockDown Browser for tests and may even require you to use a webcam or a webcam and a second device that can read a QR code while testing.

To take a test, you will log into Blackboard as you usually do, select your course, and navigate to the test or quiz.
If the LockDown Browser has not been previously installed, you will be prompted to download and install it. Otherwise, the LockDown Browser will open with the test.
Your professor may also allow you to use Respondus LockDown Browser on your iPad. These directions to install the Respondus LockDown Browser app on iPad can help.

Respondus works well on Chromebooks
If your school manages your Chromebook, you may need to contact your school's Chromebook administrator for permission to install the browser extension. Provide them with the directions to allow the extension.
Once you install the browser extension, your Chromebook will automatically launch it at the appropriate time.
