Tullio Jappelli

Tullio Jappelli is Professor of Economics at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), Director (2022-24) of the Center for Studies in Economics and Finance (CSEF) and Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Since 2017 he has been appointed in the Regular Research Visitor Programme at the ECB.

He received a Ph.D in Economics from Boston College, and has been a visitor at MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University
, the European University Institute and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF).

From 2013 to 2018 he chaired the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Naples Federico II and from 1998 to 2013 he was Director of the Center for Studies in Economics and Finance (CSEF).

His main areas of research are household finance, saving and applied macroeconomics. His work has appeared in leading economic journals such as AER, JPE, Journal of Finance, JME,
QJE, JEEA, Review of Economics and Statistics, and American Economic Journals.

In 2018 he published for Oxford University Press Economics of Consumption: Theory and Evidence, jointly with Luigi Pistaferri.
