Adobe Lab is not running Fall 2024. Visit the ALTC in the library basement for Adobe tutoring!
A feminist lab is a space centering the human experience in education, through a collaborative and interdisciplinary model of learning and experimentation.
We all (yes, you too!) bring substantive and valuable perspectives and skills to the lab. The lab is at its best when students are working together side by side, trying out new tools and techniques, and offering one another suggestions to solve problems together. I lead the demo each week, but lab time is entirely driven by YOUR needs and curiosities.
This space is hosted by faculty for now, but the goal is that, in time, this lab should be student-run. That you will take the reins, creating your own schedule of demos and skill share events, and offering one another support, much like the Tulane Maker Space.
If you (yes, YOU!) are interested in taking on a collaborative leadership role with other students at the Tulane Lab, let me know so I can help you take that leap!

Of course! Join us for whatever session or sessions are useful to you—there's no long-term commitment involved at all.
Nope! While preference for assistance will be given to Tulane School of Architecture Design students, any student can bring anything Adobe-related for questions and help, ideas, etc.
(It's all useful experience that will serve you in later courses and professionally, even if the experience comes from putting together a flyer for your cousin's birthday party!)
Sure! Students will take priority, but I'm happy to help faculty and staff with anything Adobe-related as well.
You should also know there's a space specifically for you for this purpose already—the Innovative Learning Center at Howard-Tilton Memorial Library is set up to assist faculty with training and questions about Adobe software and welcomes you there always!
Yes! All the demos will be recorded and links added to the 'Demos' page here afterward. And additional resources (links to outside tutorials or articles) will be added as well.
So go ahead and watch on your own time if you can't make it—and if you have questions afterward, come to the next session you can get to and I'll be happy to fill in any gaps.
Yes!
But, no, not really. I am an experienced graphic designer and educator, and am in my fourth year appointment as an Adobe Education Leader. I truly love using these software, and I truly love helping people take their creative ideas and bring them to life.
I do know a lot* about these software, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Express, and AfterEffects. But I don't know everything about every Adobe software, and there may be times where I need to look something up to help you figure out a solution or connect you to a resource that's better than myself for your particular issue.
So no, I'm not a wizard, but I am genuinely passionate about getting more people to feel confident expressing their creative ideas on the screen using Adobe! You can see my Tulane faculty profile here, and my own portfolio website here.
*No one was born knowing how to use any of these software! I learned what I know by practicing and experimenting, watching others work, and listening to their methods. I also learn a LOT from my students! Very often it's YOU who show me a new way to approach something—which only makes my job so much more fun. The point? No need to be hesitant with a new tool. Play! Take risks! Make something. Make something beautiful, make something weird, and then make something else! Keep making.
