Chronic tubal ventilation disorder is a condition in which the ear trumpet (a tube that connects the middle ear to the throat) does not function properly. This trumpet normally ensures that the air pressure in the ear is equalized and fluid drains out. If it is blocked or narrowed, it can cause problems such as pressure in the ear, hearing loss and ear pain. If the problem persists for a long time, it is called a chronic disorder.  In addition to the chronic variant, there is also a temporarily recurrent form in which the ventilation disorder only appears as a symptom accompanying colds, which alternates with longer healthy and symptom-free periods.
This online community and self-help group is intended to provide information about the rare disease and promote exchange between those affected. It is unique in this form in German-speaking countries. With the exception of a few ENT forums, there are currently no comparable platforms that deal exclusively with the topic of tubal ventilation disorders.
