Research Paper: Each student will write a Research Paper (6 pages minimum, not counting the reference page) on a current topic in Counseling.
Topics must be approved by the faculty by the third meeting of class. Students are encouraged to access the College’s online library resources to ensure that there is enough research in the area of your topic.
The student must utilize at least seven peer reviewed scholarly sources.
All work must be completed in APA format.
The student will be graded on: content (50%), Reference quality (25%) APA format (15%), and proper spelling/ grammar (10%).
Quizzes: There will be six topical quizzes – these will be made available online. They may be multiple choice, true/false, short answer, or any combination.
Quizzes will cover: the lecture (on ground class) or media content online class), the book, and any assigned supplemental material.
Presentation: Students will work in teams to produce a Power Point presentation on anger and anger management within a defined client population. Teams will be assigned.
Discussion Board: Each week students will respond to the instructor’s prompt found on the class Discussion Board, offering a thoughtful and substantial post. Additionally, each student must respond to two peer postings, likewise offering a thoughtful and substantial post/reflection/feedback/comment.
Grading Rubric:
100 for making a thoughtful original post and then responding to two peer's posts with quality content.
90 for making a thoughtful original post and then responding to one peer's posts with quality content.
70 for making a thoughtful original post and not responding to any peer's posts.
0 for not doing the assignment by the due date.
Resource Development: Students will do a thorough web search to locate and identify 5 online resource sites which would be helpful in providing resources for clients coming to counseling.
Select 5 different conditions or diagnoses (ie: Depression, Eating Disorders, etc) and then find a site for each.
Create a page which lists the URL as a hyperlink, and provides a paragraph summary of the content. Identify 2 specific resources available on each site.

Consistently turning assignments in on time
Completing the non-graded, but required tasks
... are also part of the overall evaluation process.
Any assignment turned in after the stated due date will have 10% of the grade deducted for being late.
No assignment will be accepted later than one week past the due date ... unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor in advance, and in written form (email your request and then text the instructor advising him an email was sent).
