About Texas True Tax Relief

Texas True Tax Relief serves Bexar County families through two specialized programs: property-tax arbitration assistance and compassionate home relief.

Our relief work began in 2020 with a simple belief: when someone needs help, we should respond with knowledge, practical resources, dignity, and love.

Property-Tax Arbitration Relief

A property-tax protest does not always produce the best supported outcome.

When Texas True Tax reviews an Appraisal Review Board decision and believes that further appeal may be appropriate, Texas True Tax Relief may help an eligible property owner pursue regular binding arbitration.

Assistance may include:

Arbitration is not appropriate for every property. Each request is reviewed independently and must meet applicable legal deadlines, eligibility requirements, and Texas True Tax Relief’s charitable-assistance guidelines. Assistance does not guarantee a reduction or favorable decision.

Texas True Tax Relief may provide up to $550 toward the required Regular Binding Arbitration deposit and related approved filing costs for qualifying property owners.  We typically serve up to 20 property owners annually.

Compassionate Home Relief

Sometimes we learn that a Bexar County resident is living in a home that has become unsafe, unhealthy, or overwhelming because of hoarding conditions, illness, disability, aging, grief, financial hardship, or another difficult life circumstance.

These situations require more than a cleaning crew.

Texas True Tax Relief brings together compassionate volunteers, qualified mental-health and wellness resources, professional cleaning services, landfill and hauling services, repair professionals, donors, and community partners.

An approved project may include:

We expect to accept approximately five home-relief projects each year. Every household must complete an assessment before assistance can be considered.

Most approved projects cost approximately $1,000 to $5,500. Services are generally provided without charge to the resident or family, depending on the assessment, project scope, donations, and available funding.

A Careful, Respectful Process

Hoarding situations develop over time and cannot always be resolved in one day.

A project may require several months of conversations, visits, walkthroughs, planning, and scheduled workdays. We are not a same-day cleanout or emergency-response service.

The feelings, dignity, safety, and comfort of the person living in the home come first. Family members may want everything removed immediately, but lasting relief requires patience, trust, consent, and compassion.

We serve families privately and confidentially. Names, photographs, addresses, and personal stories are not shared publicly without appropriate permission.

Serving in Faith

Our work is rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe loving our neighbors means showing up, listening, praying, working, and using the resources God provides to help restore safety and hope.

We do this work in love, without judgment.

Help Fund a Relief Project

Texas True Tax Relief depends on donations, volunteers, professional partners, and donated materials to complete this work.

Your contribution can help pay for arbitration costs, professional cleaning, dumpsters, landfill charges, minor repairs, paint, essential furnishings, and other approved project needs.
