What stays on your device
Your documents, imported files, scans, notes, highlights, vocabulary, podcasts and listening statistics are stored only on your device. Reading aloud (text to speech) uses your device's built-in voices and happens on your device. Text recognition from camera scans and photos happens on your device. We do not upload your library.
AI features (summaries, translation, chat, writing tools, flashcards, quizzes, AI podcasts)
When you use an AI feature, the text you choose (for example a document's text) and your chat messages are sent to our AI service provider, the Lovable AI gateway, which uses third-party AI models to generate a response. This only happens after you agree in the app the first time you use an AI feature. This text is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is used only to produce the response you asked for.
AI credits
To track AI credits (the free credits and the monthly credits included with TTS Reader Pro), we store a credit balance on our server, keyed to a device identifier (the iOS identifier for vendor). We record credits added, including credit amounts from purchases, and credits used. This data is used only to operate the credit system.
Advertising
Free users see ads served by Google AdMob. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier, your approximate location (derived from your IP address) and information about your interaction with ads to show personalized ads and measure their performance. If you ask the app not to track, you can still use the app and see non-personalized ads. Users in the EEA and UK can change their ad consent at any time in Settings, Ad privacy choices. TTS Reader Pro subscribers see no ads.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics (screen views) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash and performance reports) to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. Crash reports are not linked to your identity.
Speech recognition
Voice notes and voice search use Apple's speech recognition, which Apple may process on its servers. See Apple's privacy policy for details.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details.
Children
TTS Reader is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your documents and notes at any time in the app (Settings, Clear all data) or by deleting the app. To ask us to delete the credit records for your device, email af@afexdigitals.com and we will delete them within 30 days.
Changes
We will update this page if the app's data practices change and show the new date above.
