Runaway lunged behind a thin piece of cover as he reloaded his weapon and groaned as Merchant held down the trigger button on his LMG.
“Stupid ginger.” Runaway whispered to himself. He gripped his gun tighter as he extended his unarmed hand and a large ball of white energy formed in his palm. He aimed it right next to him and released it. The energy left his palm as if it was a bullet and landed on the ground opening a portal to the inbetween dimension he’s deemed the nothing. “I’m just gonna get a new angle.”
Runaway moved for his portal, but, before he could get one leg in, an arm reached from the other side.
“What the hell!” Runaway screamed as the arm pulled its body from the rest of the portal and revealed a woman. She gasped for fresh air as she pulled herself out of the portal and fell onto her side. “Who are you?!”
“Ma-ri-a Sal-vador.” She said through breathes. “Where am I?”
“You’re in the middle of a Tremor Game! What the hell are you doing in the nothing?!”
“That’s what that place was called? Nice to know. Anyways. Can you direct me to the nearest interstellar locomotive?” Maria said as she stood, but Runaway pulled her down and out of the way of a bullet.
“I have no idea what that is!” He exclaimed.
“What are you talking about? It was just invented like a year ago.” Runaway looked at her with a confused expression. “I know the guy that built it. I helped back on Apollo. Had to convince the prick to let me help.”
“Apollo?!” Runaway exclaimed. “What year do you think it is?!”
“2400.” Maria said with a little bit of fear in her voice.
“I hate to break it to you, but that’s one-hundred and fifty-seven years to early.”
THE END…
