If you want a lightweight, bone-conduction style headset designed specifically for outdoor safety and long-duration sports with reliable connectivity, choose Ttbesmi Out; if you need superior audio fidelity, advanced AI-driven call clarity, and dual-device switching for modern multitasking, choose Moondrop Pill Open Ear. Both are open-ear solutions that keep your ears free, but they solve completely different problems for the person wearing them. One prioritizes the feeling of weightlessness and environmental awareness during high-movement activities, while the other focuses on delivering a rich, studio-quality listening experience with smart features that adapt to your environment.
• Ttbesmi Out: Its biggest strength is the featherlight 0.3oz design and bone conduction driver technology that keeps you safe outdoors; its trade-off is a shorter battery life of only 4 hours per charge. This pick is for athletes who prioritize staying aware of their surroundings above all else.
• Moondrop Pill Open Ear: Its biggest strength is the 13mm dynamic driver with B&K tuning and NPU-based AI noise cancellation for crystal-clear calls; its trade-off is a slightly heavier build and a more complex charging case mechanism. This pick is for audiophiles and professionals who need premium sound quality and seamless device switching.
The Ttbesmi Out is built for the person who refuses to let headphones become a barrier between them and the world. The defining feature here is the bone conduction technology combined with an open-ear design that sits entirely outside the ear canal. This isn't just about comfort; it is about safety. When you are running on a busy street or cycling through a park, the ability to hear traffic, birds, and people around you without taking anything off is non-negotiable. The design uses a skin-friendly ABS material that is non-allergic, ensuring that even after hours of wear, you won't feel the irritation often associated with in-ear buds.
At just 0.3 ounces, this device practically disappears on your head. I have seen many users complain about "headphone fatigue," where the weight of the device becomes a distraction over time. With the Ttbesmi Out, that sensation is virtually eliminated. The Bluetooth 5.3 chip ensures a stable connection up to 33 feet, which is crucial when you are moving fast and don't want your music cutting out mid-stride. The waterproofing is also a major factor here; the nano-coating protects against sweat and rain, making it a durable companion for intense gym sessions or rainy jogs. You can wipe it down gently, and it remains ready for the next workout.

However, there are limitations you must accept. The battery life caps at 4 hours of playtime at 50% volume, which is sufficient for a standard run or commute but might fall short for a marathon training day or a long work shift without access to the charging case. The charging time is relatively quick at one hour, but the total capacity is lower than competitors focused on endurance. Furthermore, while the directional sound transmission attempts to minimize leakage, the open nature of the design means you will never get the deep bass isolation of a sealed earbud. If your primary goal is immersion in music rather than awareness of your environment, this might not be the perfect tool for you. It is best suited for those who view audio as a secondary layer to their physical activity, not the main event.
The Moondrop Pill Open Ear is engineered for the listener who demands high-fidelity audio without sacrificing the openness of an OWS (Open Wireless Stereo) design. Unlike the bone conduction approach, the Pill utilizes a 13mm circular low-distortion dynamic driver. This is a significant upgrade over the typical runway-shaped drivers found in most clip-on headphones. The larger diameter allows for a deeper rear cavity, which translates to punchy bass and a more linear frequency response that rivals traditional closed-back headphones. The acoustic performance is tuned using the ultra-wideband Danish B&K 5128 HATS reference system, ensuring that what you hear is as close to natural acoustics as possible.
What truly sets this model apart is the focus on communication and smart integration. It features a built-in Neuron Processor Unit (NPU) core paired with an AI ENC algorithm. This hardware-level approach to noise canceling goes beyond simple software filtering; it actively eliminates background noise while enhancing vocal clarity. If you take a lot of calls while working from a coffee shop or walking down a noisy street, this is the difference between being heard clearly and struggling to be understood. Additionally, the dipole directional sound transmission technology effectively counters sound radiation, eliminating up to 97% of sound leakage at a distance of 15 cm. This means you can listen to music or take calls in a quiet office without disturbing your colleagues.
The convenience features are equally impressive for the modern user. Dual-device connectivity allows you to stay connected to both your laptop and phone simultaneously, switching seamlessly between tasks. There is also a dedicated low-latency game mode that drops latency to 55ms, making it viable for mobile gaming where audio sync is critical. The battery life is robust, offering 8 hours of playback on a single charge and extending to 28 hours total with the charging case. The design itself is futuristic, featuring a retractable mechanism that tucks the earbuds into a transparent capsule shell. While it may feel slightly more substantial than the Ttbesmi due to the inclusion of the titanium alloy wire and liquid silicone bridge, the C-bridge maintains elasticity for repeated use, ensuring a secure fit even for those wearing glasses. This product is ideal for anyone who treats their headphones as a central piece of tech gear for work, media consumption, and communication.

In my opinion, if you are looking for the best open ear headphones for calls, the Moondrop Pill Open Ear is the clear winner. The combination of the NPU hardware and the dipole sound transmission creates a professional-grade communication experience that the Ttbesmi Out simply cannot match. While the Ttbesmi is a fantastic, ultra-lightweight option for runners who need to hear everything around them, the Moondrop delivers a richer audio experience and smarter features that make it better for daily use, work, and entertainment. I would buy the Moondrop Pill because it balances the need for openness with the necessity of high-quality sound and reliable voice clarity, making it the more versatile choice for a modern lifestyle.
Both models are suitable for exercise, but the Ttbesmi Out offers IPX5 waterproofing for heavier sweat exposure, while the Moondrop Pill provides IPX4 protection which handles splashes and moderate workouts well.
Neither model blocks external sound physically since they are open-ear designs, but the Moondrop Pill features AI Environmental Noise Cancellation for clearer microphone pickup, whereas the Ttbesmi relies on directional microphones for calls.
The Moondrop Pill lasts significantly longer with 8 hours of playback on a single charge compared to the 4-hour limit of the Ttbesmi Out, making the Moondrop better for long days away from a charger.
Yes, the Moondrop Pill supports seamless switching between two devices simultaneously, a feature not listed in the specifications for the Ttbesmi Out which connects to a single device at a time.
