The Unity Movement started not in a government office or a university, but in conversations among community members who were tired of seeing their people divided.
Elders spoke of a time when families straddled both sides of the border. Youth asked why their Xironga speaking cousins were treated as foreigners.
From these conversations, the idea of a People’s Charter was born – a simple, voluntary covenant that any Tsonga-speaking or Ronga-speaking person could sign, regardless of which chief or king they recognised.
This movement is the result of that grassroots effort.
