Digital art is one of my primary hobbies and I've happened to work on a lot of art for games as well. I primarily use FireAlpaca, Aseprite, and MS Paint.
I'm heavily inspired by artists such as Junji Ito, Shuzo Oshimi, Odilon Redon, and Sidney Sime, as well as various video games such as the Pokemon franchise and Fear and Hunger. I often infuse global mythologies and spiritual imagery into my work, especially Cambodian stories and legends like the epic poem The Reamker. As a Cambodian-American, I understand the importance of representing the underrepresented, and it is my goal to create games and art that speak to what I feel is important.
Nothing here is to be taken too seriously... just a showcase of all the personal projects and coursework I've done throughout the years.
Coursework
Abomi Nation Redesign Project
(2024)
This project was completed as the final project for the course Arts for Interactive Media over the span of a month. The goal of the project was to redesign a game's visuals, and I chose the the indie game, Abomi Nation, making it take on a darker, more horror-inspired look. I got a shoutout from the original game's creator on Twitter which I thought was pretty cool.
Goodbye
(2023)
Goodbye is a narrative zombie game created for the course Game Development I with a group of three other students. I was primarily a programmer, but I also contributed significantly on the artistic end as well. I did concept art for all the NPCs, which ended up being a part of their final textures, and I also designed the zombies as seen above. Not pictured are my journal design and end-game splash art which can be found by playing the game here on Itch.
Schlorp
(2023)
Schlorp is an analog card game created for the course Intro to Game Design with a group of four other students. I worked on most of the card art, including the 28 creatures shown above. You can find the other 7 designs plus the card layouts I also worked on at our itch.io page.
Other Projects
(2023-2025)
A random assortment of pixel art, concept art, and card art that were created for the courses Intro to Game Design, Intro to Game Programming, Game Development I, Game Development II, Experimental Game Design, and History and Culture of Games.
Personal Projects
Creature Collector Concept Art
(2024-)
These are concept pieces and character designs for a turn-based creature collector RPG loosely based on Khmer culture and mythology.
Instead of "types" or "affinities", each creature has a "color" that they represent (i.e. green, purple, black & white, etc.)
Abeni Pokedex Project
(2018-2024)
This was a project that I shared on Instagram from 2018 to 2024 where I created my own Pokemon region. Above are the latest iteration of the starter trio. The project is now defunct.
Other
Ground Zero Basement Posters and Designs
(2022-)
