In 2023, the TSI Volunteer Fire Department followed the procedures outlined in the Arkansas Code - AR Code § 14-20-108, to implement an ordinance which allows the department to have the fire dues collected through the annual Cleburne County Property Tax statements. This did not increase dues, they are still $50, nor in any way affect assessments or tax rates. The Cleburne County Tax Collector simply has the ability to collect that money from the residents along with their property taxes, and distribute the fire due to the TSI Volunteer Fire Department in bulk, check form.
Beginning with the year 2024, all fire dues should be remitted with tax payments to the Cleburne County Tax Collector's Office. Separate bills from the department and or the accounting firm used by the department will no longer be distributed.
While we understand that not all residents agreed to the implementation of this ordinance, residents may contact the Assessor's Office to opt out. This will result in an acknowledgement by the property owner that should a fire begin on their property, requiring dispatch of the department, manpower, and equipment, the department has the ability to bill the property owner for the use of these resources.
