Interpreting Economic Phenomena (undergraduate; in Japanese): Fall and Winter 2025/2026
Course objective: This course covers various topics in the field of macroeconomic theory and policy, such as: gross domestic product, unemployment, inflation, interest rates, the effects of government debt, and stabilization policy. We will be asking and answering questions, such as: Why some countries are rich and others poor? To combat high inflation and unemployment, what macroeconomic policies can a government implement? The objective is to introduce students to the basic concepts and analytical tools of modern macroeconomics.
Introductory Macroeconomics (graduate; in Japanese): Spring and Summer 2025
Course objective: This is a master-level graduate macroeconomics. The objective of the course is to equip students with working knowledge of basic dynamic macroeconomic models, including the Solow growth model, the representative agent model, endogenous growth model, and the overlapping generations model.
Special Lectures in Economics: Foundations of Economic Growth (graduate; in English): Fall and Winter 2024/2025
Course objective: In this master's course, we study a series of standard exogenous and endogenous growth models. The discussion stresses the empirical implications of the models and focuses on how the predictions from subsequent refinements of these models can better match the patterns of economic development observed in the real world.
