While I was creating this piece, I envisioned a smaller top and a small bottom, while having a wide mid section. The drippy glaze is to enhance the form of the piece, while drawing attention to the top. The clear glaze is used to keep the overall feeling a subtle and calm piece.
This piece is made out of mixed media including clay, rope, and wire. The form of the body tapers down to a "dress-like" skin to mimic the burlap ruffles. The colors were kept neutral to show a realistic approach at a body. I want this piece to be questioned and to feel eerie, hence the rope, stitching, and burlap.
The cup had glaze crushed and mixed into clay to create and marbled glaze. I had one chance to throw a mug with the man made clay/glaze. While throwing on the wheel, it created a spiral and almost galactic design.
