He earned B.E., degree in Civil Engineering from Kongu Enggineering College, Tamil Nadu. Then he obtained his M.E., in Structural Engineering from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. Before he joined Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras for his PhD., he worked as lecturer and design engineer where he earned knowledge in design of reinforced concrete structural elements. His research focused on the short and long term performance of blended cement and LC3 concrete, predominantly on the strength development, static elastic modulus, shrinkage and creep. During his stay at IITM he was involved in various internationally funded research project. He believes in the words of Albert Einstein “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of mind to think”.
