When Trézor® Suite is not working, the problem may be related to the internet connection, USB cable, device firmware, VPN, firewall, application settings, or the Suite installation itself. Trezor's official troubleshooting documentation recommends checking the specific symptom before making changes to your wallet or device.
Importantly, a Suite error does not necessarily mean that your cryptocurrency is lost. For example, Trezor explains that a "Discovery error" generally indicates that Suite cannot reach the servers required to load blockchain information; your coins remain on the blockchain.
Start with the simplest checks:
Confirm that your computer or phone has internet access.
Open another website to verify the connection.
Temporarily disconnect a VPN and restart Trezor Suite.
If you use Tor, temporarily disable it and test Suite again.
Try a different network if the problem continues.
Trezor specifically identifies VPN connections as a common cause of discovery and loading problems because some VPN servers may prevent Suite from reaching Trezor's services.
If account balances or transaction history are not loading, check whether Trezor's services are operational before changing application settings. Trezor recommends checking its official status page and testing the relevant blockchain backend.
If the service is experiencing an outage, waiting for the issue to be resolved may be all that is necessary.
If Trézor® Suite cannot detect your hardware wallet, inspect the USB connection.
Use:
The original Trezor cable when available.
A high-quality USB data cable.
Another USB port on your computer.
Another compatible computer if possible.
A cable can provide enough power to illuminate the Trezor display while still failing to transfer data. Trezor therefore recommends checking the cable when the device is not recognized.
Completely close Trezor Suite and reopen it. If the device remains undetected, disconnect the hardware wallet, restart your computer, and reconnect the device.
Also avoid simultaneously using multiple wallet applications, browser tabs, or services that may attempt to communicate with the same Trezor device.
An outdated application can create compatibility problems. Trezor regularly releases Suite updates containing new features, improvements, and fixes. Its August 2026 desktop release, for example, is version 26.8.2.
To update safely:
Open Trezor Suite.
Check for an available application update.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart Suite after installation.
Reconnect your Trezor device.
Download the desktop application only from Trezor's official website or its official GitHub release page.
Your Trezor hardware wallet may also require a firmware update. Trezor recommends having your wallet backup available before performing firmware updates because a malfunction can potentially erase device memory.
Within Suite, you can generally check the firmware status under Settings → Device. If an update is available, follow the instructions shown by Trezor Suite and on the hardware device.
Do not interrupt a firmware update unless Trezor's instructions specifically tell you to do so.
If balances remain unavailable or Suite behaves unexpectedly, resetting the application can help. Trezor explains that resetting Suite removes saved application settings and wallets and restores default settings.
Before resetting, make sure you understand what will be removed from the application. Afterward, reconnect your Trezor and re-enable the cryptocurrency accounts you use.
Trezor also provides a browser-based version of Suite at suite.trezor.io/web. The official documentation says the web application works with Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera because it requires WebUSB.
If using the web version, ensure that:
Your browser is updated.
You use a compatible Chromium-based browser.
The USB cable supports data transfer.
You grant browser permission to access the Trezor device.
VPNs, firewalls, antivirus settings, and browser extensions can sometimes interfere with wallet connectivity. Trezor recommends testing with these potential blockers disabled or appropriately configured.
Only make temporary security changes on a trusted computer, and restore your normal security configuration afterward.
If Suite stops working, do not enter your wallet backup or recovery seed into a website claiming to repair the problem. Trezor's official guidance emphasizes keeping wallet backups private and secure.
Never give your recovery words, PIN, or private keys to someone claiming to be Trezor support.
If Trézor® Suite is not working, work through the problem systematically:
Check your internet connection.
Disable VPN or Tor temporarily.
Check Trezor's service status.
Try another USB data cable.
Restart Suite and your computer.
Update Trezor Suite.
Check device firmware.
Reset Suite if appropriate.
Test the official web app.
Contact official Trezor Support if the problem remains.
Security reminder: Troubleshooting should never require you to disclose your wallet backup, PIN, or private keys. Use only official Trezor websites and software when resolving wallet issues.
