This project was part of my internship with Horizon Healthcare Partners. I was tasked with designing the logo for the 2025 Rhode Island event, along with my fellow design interns, and encountered a few challenges along the way with the tagline in particular.
This project was part of my internship with Horizon Healthcare Partners. I was tasked with designing the logo for the 2025 Rhode Island event, along with my fellow design interns, and encountered a few challenges along the way with the tagline in particular.
The original tagline we were given when starting this project was "Strong States are built on Healthy Minds", which was a challenge to fit into a small logo. The clients, in this case being the organizers of the event, wanted us to try to incorporate the outline of the state of Rhode Island in the logo as well.
After sending in our first iterations of the logo, the clients came back to us and asked us to use an anchor and the state's shape instead, and they changed the tagline to be "Anchored in Support, Stronger Together". This tagline was much more difficult to place due to it's longer words and the awkward shapes of Rhode Island and the anchor.
I struggled with the placement of the tagline in this new logo for a while, as the type lockup didn't look right. The anchor combined with the state left very little room for the tagline, and I finally settled on a cutout in the anchor so the text could sit inside without being restricted to such a tight space.
This was a challenging project, if only because the tagline itself was the biggest problem that I had to solve. My logo was chosen for the event, however, and I do like the final product the most, so the struggle was worth it in the end. This project definitely put my typography skills to the test, as well as my eye for layouts.
