I’ve been telling stories my entire life: through poetry, film, skits, stage presence, social media, writing, and the simple act of observing the world around me. The Spread Dir. True Avery

The Spread is a short film I produced during my junior year at Michigan State University, created by bringing together a wide range of campus creatives—actors, musicians, designers, and student entrepreneurs, to build a full cinematic experience. The story follows a group of college students who are living the “ultimate college experience,” filled with parties, hookups, and reckless decisions, until the entire campus is shaken by a sudden herpes outbreak. As the characters begin getting tested and the truth unfolds, the film becomes a reflection on choices, consequences, community, and accountability. What makes this project special is that it became one of the first large-scale demonstrations of ESE (Everybody Support Everybody,) through intentional product placement, clothing from student brands, original music from campus artists, and contributions from dozens of creatives who trusted the vision. The Spread wasn’t just a film; it was the beginning of a collaborative ecosystem built on talent, creativity, and community support.

I am Beautiful Documentary

I Am Beautiful: I Am Not My Sickness is an intimate documentary created in collaboration with Samaya Munir—also known as Mu, founder of Me By Moo as she documents her battle with endometriosis and the emotional toll it has taken on her life. The film walks viewers through her journey of pain, hospital visits, exhaustion, and the heavy maintenance required to take care of her once long, thick, beautiful afro. Eventually, Samaya makes the empowering decision to cut her hair, choosing relief and healing over societal expectations of beauty. I wrote the script and voiceover to guide her through narrating her experience with honesty, vulnerability, and strength while we visually displayed photos, footage, and the emotional moment of her cutting her hair in real time. The documentary stands as a reminder that beauty is not defined by sickness, struggle, or appearance, but by the resilience and courage it takes to reclaim yourself through the hardest seasons of life.

The Unwanted Friend

The Unwanted Friend is a comedic short skit I filmed with a group of friends at Michigan State, based on that one person we all know.The friend who always pops up needing something at the worst possible moment. In the story, one character is racing across campus trying to avoid this friend who constantly asks for favors, rides, or uses whatever you have in your hand. He thinks he’s finally outrun him and reaches his car safely, only to turn around and find the same friend right behind him The skit captures the everyday comedy of friendships, misunderstandings, and the dramatic lengths we go to avoid small inconveniences, all wrapped in a lighthearted college setting.
