We value your privacy. Photos, videos, media files, and most application data are processed locally on your device, while latitude and longitude coordinates may be handled by Android system geocoding services to perform address resolution. We do not operate developer-controlled remote application servers, user account databases, advertising networks, analytics tracking services, or in-app payment systems.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is accessed, processed, stored, and shared when you use True Location.
To provide core camera and geotagging functionality, True Location accesses the following device features and data:
A. Location & Sensor Data
Data Accessed: GPS latitude, longitude, altitude, position accuracy, and hardware compass bearing.
Purpose: Displays live location and heading metadata on the camera preview screen and embeds location-related information into captured photos and recorded videos.
Processing: Location and compass data are accessed through your device’s location providers and sensors while the application is active on screen.
B. Camera & Audio Stream
Data Accessed: Real-time video feeds from your device's front and rear cameras, and audio feeds from your device’s microphone.
Purpose: Renders the camera viewfinder, captures photos, and records video clips with accompanying audio.
Processing: Camera and audio data are processed locally on your device hardware and graphics processing unit (GPU).
C. Media & Storage Data
Data Accessed: Photos and videos captured within the app, as well as saved PDF field reports.
Purpose: Allows you to review media in the in-app gallery, share files, open photo coordinates in external mapping apps, and assemble selected photos into PDF field reports.
D. Package & System Metadata
Data Accessed: System-provided locale, language settings, and package version numbers.
Purpose: Ensures correct date, time, and timezone formatting, and displays app version information in the settings menu.
On-Device Media Watermarking: Watermark overlays are applied directly during media creation:
Photos: Watermarks are cropped and stamped directly onto photo image bytes in memory at the moment of capture.
Videos: Watermarks are applied onto video frames during post-recording processing via GPU-accelerated video transformation.
Gallery Role: The in-app gallery displays already-stamped media files and does not modify or re-apply watermarks.
Address Resolution via Android System Geocoding: To convert latitude and longitude coordinates into a human-readable street address, the app passes coordinates to Android's native location geocoding services. The resolved address is returned to the app for display on the camera HUD and media overlays.
Local PDF Field Report Generation: PDF field reports are generated entirely on your device. The app embeds selected geotagged photos (which already feature the stamped location overlay) alongside document headers, report titles, author names, and creation timestamps.
User-Initiated Sharing & Export: You may share photos, videos, or PDF reports with other applications using the native Android OS Share Sheet. Media files are transferred only when you explicitly trigger a share action.
User-Initiated External Map Viewing: Tapping ‘View on Map’ in the photo preview opens the selected coordinates in your device’s web browser or an external mapping application such as Google Maps.
True Location does not integrate third-party advertising SDKs, telemetry/analytics tracking SDKs, or payment/billing SDKs. Network interaction is limited to system location resolution and user-initiated actions:
Android System Location & Geocoding Services: The app uses Android’s native location and geocoding services. Depending on the device and system configuration, address resolution may involve the device’s configured system location provider.
User-Initiated External Web Links: When you choose to view a location on Google Maps or open our Privacy Policy link, your device opens an external HTTPS web link in your default browser or external map application.
No Ads, Analytics, or In-App Purchases: The app contains no advertisements (such as AdMob), no analytics or tracking SDKs, no Google Play Billing SDKs, and no developer-controlled remote backend databases.
True Location requests the following permissions on your Android device:
Camera: Required to display the camera preview, take photos, and record videos.
Microphone: Required to record audio tracks during video recording.
Precise Location: Required to obtain exact GPS coordinates, altitude, and position accuracy for media stamps.
Coarse Location: Required alongside precise location to access device location services.
Storage: Used on applicable older Android versions to access and save media files in device storage. Newer Android versions use modern MediaStore and app-specific storage mechanisms where applicable.
Notifications: Requested on Android 13 and higher to display optional status notifications during video encoding or file saving.
Wake Lock: Keeps your device screen awake while actively using the camera preview or recording video.
Internet: Used for system geocoding address queries and user-initiated external web links (such as Google Maps).
Background Activity
True Location operates in the foreground. Location updating, camera previewing, and sensor tracking occur only while you are actively using the app on screen. Sensor streams and camera feeds stop when the app is minimized or closed. The app does not perform background location tracking or run background daemon services.
Data Retention & Storage Locations
Photos and Videos: Saved geotagged photos and videos are stored in public media directories on your device (e.g., Pictures/TrueLocation/ and Movies/TrueLocation/). These files remain in your public device gallery even after uninstalling the app, until you manually delete them.
PDF Field Reports: Saved PDF reports are stored in an app-specific storage directory (TrueLocation/Reports) on your device and are removed when the app is uninstalled.
Application Settings: Preferences such as watermark placement, font style, and author name are stored locally in your device's SharedPreferences and are removed when the app is uninstalled or when app data is cleared.
Temporary Files: Temporary video buffers and frame cache files are stored in your device's temporary cache directory and are automatically cleared by the operating system or removed upon app uninstallation.
True Location does not operate user accounts or a developer-controlled remote database for storing children’s personal information. App data is handled as described in this Privacy Policy.
Depending on where you reside, local data protection laws may grant you specific rights regarding your personal information. Where applicable under relevant privacy legislation, these rights are respected by Vreedle Brothers as outlined below:
A. European Economic Area (EU/EEA) – GDPR
Where applicable under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users in the EU/EEA may have rights regarding their personal data, including the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, or data portability. Photos, videos, media files, and most app data are processed locally on your device, avoiding unnecessary transmission to developer servers. While no system or mobile application can guarantee absolute security, processing your media locally significantly minimizes external exposure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted with a revised "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
