The 3rd Leipzig-Münster Retreat (February 24-26, 2026) brought together researchers from Leipzig and Münster, along with selected collaborators, thereby strengthening collaboration and exchange between the two sites. The program reflected core themes of the TRR, with talks centered around (singular) SPDEs, regularity structures, multiscale analysis, and optimal transport, among others. 6 out of 24 participants are members or PIs of CRC TRR 388.
The Third Berlin-Leipzig Workshop on Fluctuating Hydrodynamics, hosted at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences on February 16-18, 2026, gathered about 40 participants from stochastic analysis, numerical analysis, and applications. The meeting created an open and very active atmosphere, with talks ranging from SPDE-based modelling of fluctuation phenomena to numerical methods for high-dimensional interacting particle systems. A recurring theme was how microscopic randomness drives macroscopic dynamics, and several discussions around Dean-Kawasaki-type models and physical modeling highlighted the growing coherence of the field.
On February 12–13, 2026, more than 20 participants attended this workshop, which brought a group of outstanding female speakers to Berlin.
The scientific program featured inspiring talks covering a broad range of topics, including algebraic quantum field theory, random matrices, interacting particle systems, and recent theoretical advances in diffusion-based generative modelling.. The workshop created a lively and supportive atmosphere, encouraging exchange across different areas of stochastic analysis and related fields.
In addition to the research talks, the program included a panel discussion with the invited speakers. During this session, they shared personal experiences from their academic careers, reflected on obstacles they had encountered along the way, and discussed strategies for navigating challenges in research environments.
February 4-6, 2026, this was the first out of the series of Spring Workshops of our CRC.
More than 40 participants attended this workshop. In addition to the talks by 12 speakers, there were also posters presented and there was an open problem session. The workshop brought together representatives from a broad spectrum of different interdisciplinary research branches working on topics related to iterated integrals and signatures, that otherwise tend to talk with each other too little.
On the 18th of December, 2025, Alessandra Frabetti (Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1) gave two special lectures.
Talk 1 — 11:00–12:30
Transport maps on manifolds using groupoids and direct connections
In the theory of Regularity Structures, local solutions of (singular and stochastic) PDEs at different points of a base manifold are related by means of some transport maps. On non-flat manifolds, such operators are best described by Lie groupoids, a bi-fibred version of Lie groups where each element has a source and a target point on the manifold. After a short review of two
motivating examples, we shall introduce the basic mathematical tools for such a geometric approach: groupoid actions on vector bundles and direct connections on groupoids giving rise to transport maps.
Talk 2 — 2:00–2:45 pm & 3:00–3:45 pm
(with a short break for coffee, cookies, and conversation)
Direct connections on jet groupoids and regularity structures
Solutions of PDEs obtained by means of some local Taylor expansion are geometrically naturally described in terms of jet bundles. In order to relate such local solutions, we consider direct connections on jet groupoids. In this talk we shall present a natural jet prolongation of direct connections to jet groupoids. We shall also provide an example of a direct connection on a jet groupoid which does not arise in the context of Regularity Structures.
